A *BIG* thanks to Bob Langrish!!!

Postby TrueColours » Fri Jul 13, 2007 7:42 am

We were very fortunate to have Bob Langrish of Bob Langrish Photography from the UK come to the farm in July to get some fabulous pictures of our horses! Bob travels around the world to the most prestigious equine events like the Olympics, World Cups, Aachen, Spruce Meadows, Hickstead, etc so we were thrilled that a photographer of his calibre came to the farm to photograph our horses ...

Wow that colt is so stunning and unique! Your stallion is one handsome guy as well!

Here are two (sorta) flashy kids for you :) The colt on the left has a big beautiful blaze as well.

Just lovely Donna. Love the babies, but GG looks positively surreal!

Nicely done.

Thanks everyone! When GG is actually clean (which usually lasts for 1 minute or less ... ) he has a beautiful metallic sheen to his coat that is just stunning!

The last picture of him is my favorite - you can see such beautiful muscle definition on him!

Mood Swings - LOVE the pics of your kids! :)

madelyn - it helps when you have a super sophisticated camera that shoots frame after frame in the blink of an eye! You then have so many nice shots to pick from after that ...

Bondama - I agree! With that sheen on his coat and that beautiful tail fanned out behind him, he did look positively gorgeous ... :)

Thanks again

Beautiful pictures! Definitely frameworthy shots for your "brag" wall or book.

Perhaps a somewhat silly question, do you end up having to put sunscreen on GG's pink facial skin? Is he prone to the skin cancers that greys are prone to?

I don't know about GG but most pink skinned horses can benefit from sunscreen. :D

They can get skin cancers from the sun like people but it is not related to grey horse melanoma which results from the melanin being pulled from the hair follicle and deposited elsewhere in the body forming tumors as it accumulates.

you know - I did buy a big tube of sunscreen as I thought he would fry (and not only his nose but his whole body as he is pink skinned head to toe!) and he never ever has. Not even a hint of fried nose anywhere, anytime which really amazes me to be very honest ...

The little colt - Midas - is getting a pinkish nose, so I have this purple kids stuff that is SPF 30 that is also a bug repellant that we stick on him but GG has never seemed to need anything

Our new farm will have a shelter in each field and is bordered on 1-2 sides with trees as well and I will look at planting a big tree in the middle of each field as well to give them some various shade options to go to

I'd rather keep them out all day to mosey around and find shade when they need it, than keep them inside ...

My perlino stud doesn't have problems either, although I do keep a fly mask on him in the daylight hours.
