Just wondering if any horsemen here have tried it. I'd had some good results for the first 4-5 months with one of my horses then noticed he started getting too fat (with no change in diet/exercise) and got a little dull (took him off and he improved after a few weeks). It is supposed to be good for ulcers and helps the gut absorb the nutrients properly. Ive heard of one top trainer in NY had his horses on it but then took them all off but havent heard why. (he had originally endorsed the product)....
Anyone else have similar results??
Suceed (supplement) has anyone tried it?

One of the race trainers I know swears by Succeed, but personally I have my doubts as a permanent thing.
I understand what it is supposed to do and have no problem with that. But like anything, it surely has its limits. He is a claiming trainer so many of the horses he gets can certainly benefit from Succeed.. of course he doesn't have them long.

we use SmartPaks and he gets it in the morning (recommended dosage). He's been off for 2 months and we put him back on to see if it happens again. Someone had mentioned that it is something that you may have to give them a break from for a few months and start again. Right now we are just experimenting. It may be one of those things you just have to fine tune to the individual horse.
I was just hoping of finding other horsemen who have had the same problems or I could just have one "high Maintenance" horse!

boston gal--i've looked up the ingredients (wikepedia). this looks like one of those products that u'd have to use to see what u think it does. i'm at a loss based on the ingredients to see any great benefit, but, even as i'm thinking that i'm considering a horse failing to eat due to strenuous exercise and feeding a bit of Succeed to sooth things as it contains a lot of fat reportedly of the soothing sort. this one is a puzzler. wondering if any race track or other vets recommending Succeed? nick zito pimping this makes one wonder. what's ur opinion. did u see any benefits???
Hi, thanks for your reply. I put the horse back on after being off for 6 weeks and saw a dramatic improvement in his attitude and he is definetely alot more comfortable to ride. doesnt start off as stiff like he has the past 2 months. It certainly helps the coat with the high fat content. I'll just have to wait and see if he starts to get dull again or if it was something else (already did bloodwork looking for everything imaginable). I would like to find out why Zito took his whole barn off of it (according to a vet that we spoke too). Guess I'll just have to wait and see if other people are noticing any similar results after continued use after 4-6 months.

When this product fist came out here in the states I friend of ours work for them...and sent the product to us looking for some case stusy info.
At he time I had one horse with manageable ulcers. She got to looking like a tick in no time...but then he was never thin to be begin with. He did however gain weight at a pretty rapid clip. A 2 yr old in training we were having some issues with Stress/Wt/and dietary changes didnt seem to have the same benefit as my old dressage horse. We used the product on several horses throughout the course of about 6 months...and found SOME seemed to really improve in overall condition, weigght, muscle and some stable vices seemed to be lessened. While others seems to not be phased at all. I guess the same could be said with any product...not just SUCCCEED.
