Canadians Help locate stallion

Postby geowarrior » Thu Sep 13, 2007 10:42 am

I'm looking for a stallion called Synastry Express. In both Thoroughbred Times and Bloodhorse he is listed as being at Clearbrook Farm in Langley B.C. I called the farm and the lady didn't seem to know if he was still there, but thought not. Any ideas where he might be?

Hmmm... I have him listed as the same in the Canadian Thoroughbred Seems a little odd that someone who works at the farm doesn't know whether he is there or not :? I'll see if I can find out anything more.

Thanks, Mood Swings, it seemed very odd to me also. Although perhaps he has been relocated since the breeding season is over. She did seem highly clueless, although she had heard of the horse and knew enough about him to correct my pronunciation.

She promised to call me back but didn't. How long does it take to find out where your horse went when it left your farm?

However, let's not be too judgemental here, maybe she is a temporary worker.

Hi Geowarrior. I know of this stallion he used to stand in Ontario at Serendipity Farms and a friend of mine had a colt by him we broke here at my farm. Very cute little guy. Very small only 15 hands I think. The stallion that is. I heard he had shipped out west a couple years ago. Very odd, that they don't know where he is! Let us know if you find him, now that you have gotten my interest. :?:

Well, no call back so far, so I'll give them the weekend and then try again. The whole thing seems totally weird.

If you want to know why I'm interested in him, take a look at the offspring of his sire Synastry in the database.

My main interest is durability in the breed - so perhaps it's obvious why I might be interested. I don't care about size, durability is the thing.

If anyone else knows of any Synastry mares or entire horses I'd be interested in hearing about them, but Synastry Express was Synastry's only G1 winner (they don't tend to get a lot of them bred in Idaho). Synastry himself died only in 2006, so there should be quite a few out there.

I'm worried now, because I hope to god Synastry's Express hasn't been 'disposed of'. If any rescue organisations up there could keep watch for him I'd be grateful, but I don't think there's a need to put on the full alert yet.

Why don't you try contacting his old owner Serendipidy Farms they now stand Hubba Hubba. The guys name is John Whytall (sp). Maybe he know what happened to him. I know exactly what you mean about longevity. That is the one reason that we decided to purchase and stand GONE FISHIN in Ontario. He had 60 starts from ages 2 till 8. His lines also come from hard knocking racehorses on the top and bottom of his pedigree. He is breeding a mare for 2008, I have who made 142K the hard way over 70 starts!!

Sounds like someone doesn't know if they are going to be standing the horse next year or not. I'm sure they know more than they are telling. If I were a betting man, and I am, I would bet the horse will be somewhere else for the next season (or already is).

Thanks for the advice Jenny, I will do that when the work week starts. If what you say is true Casallc, that would be a relief. I only hope he's not going to Alaska or something.

His location in Langley B.C. is good for me. Ontario for Gone Fishin is much more of a stretch.

I'm also thinking (hypothetically of course, because I have to win the mega-millions first) of a Synastry mare with Fabulous Frolic, another durable sort with a great female family who is standing in Idaho.

So regardless I'm going to start building a database of Synastry mares (and sons - since he only died in 2006, he presumably has a few racing sons left), so I'll use the sire feature on Bris. But any more suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Strideaway, I hope it's the southwestern states and not the southeastern states.

Hi Geowarrior. I was just saying about standing a stallion with some longevity in his background. I didn't mean for you to come to GONE FISHIN. I hope you find Synestry Express. To be honest with you I don't know if he had many foals. But that Serendipity farms would be good to get a hold of. He probably has some of his offspring there maybe even a couple of mares :?:

I have a big 16.2hh bay, Synastry Express mare that had her 1st foal this season. The mare is Lady March and she had a huge bay filly by Shelter. I really like this mare and her filly. Good Luck finding the stallion. Keep us posted.

Synastry Express is currently in Saskatchewan. The person who left me the message gave me several phone numbers, and the message was a bit confusing, so I'll have to call back to get further clarification.
