I wish I were at Keeneland yesterday as I would have me a future broodmare prospect at the least. I'm sure this filly didnt look the part & or vet & she's all turf but Hawk Wing was a hellofa racehorse & this filly is the 3rd foal out of a multiple G1 placed Nureyev mare. She was a steal for 4k.

I watched the sale for the better part of yesterday and evening. I looked at some of the prices and scratched my head, it looked like a bad Timonium Sale. (There are more good ones than bad). I was also wondering what they looked like conformationally and how bad they vetted. But still some of the fillies, even if they didn't have the best vet reports, wow...........

Let's just say I wish I were there.

According to a pal who was there for the whole day, prices were actually strong for some very bad horses. In my opinion, this sale was too big and too long, and the last two books should have all been "outs" when they got their catalog page. It was a Very Strong sale with brutally good broodmares throughout the early part.. so if you can pick up something like that for $40K why would you hang around for the final days?

It is time for Keeneland to bring back the July sale.

I looked at this filly. She was not all that bad. I knocked her down a half here and there. But she was of good size and acceptable conformation. I have a feeling that the next two days are going to be tough to be sellers.
