Jumping lines-Looking for a Stallion

This may be a little odd-as this is mainly racing Thoroughbreds, but I am investigating Thoroughbred jumping lines. I have two pretty good thoroughbred jumper mares, I would prefer to breed them to Thoroughbred stallions-I have warmbloods and warmblood crosses and I prefer the thoroughbred temperment and intelligence. The Bonne Nuit line is of course legendary, but I cannot find a Thoroughbred stallion with him anywhere. I have found Secretariat lines to be fairly good in the ring, and have heard that Spectacular Bid threw good sport horses-but have no experiance with them personally. I would like to find a stallion east of the Mississippi, preferably with Bonne Nuit, but will settle for Secretariat-I don't care if its on top or bottom, Stallion does not need any "racing credentials", he must however have phenom confromation-Must have a well set, longer neck, very long slopey shoulder, shorter backed, and with a good strong hip, and no major faults of the leg. Height/colour is not an issue. If anyone knows of any stallions that fit the bill, please let me know.

Not sure what you thoughts would be on this fella, but we have him listed and the trainers price is negotiable. He's a son of Spectacular Bid and a well behaved fella (unfortunately, the pic doesn't do him justice, he's MUCH nicer in person!).

Yes your stallion does have all those things and more it seems...he is a very nice boy!!! We've had some discussion about him and that line of discussion is still open and being considered re Star Celebrity.

You might check out some Honest Pleasure line horses as well as I hear they make fantastic hunters. The best hunter we ever owned (Reserve National Champion Reg. Working Hunter back in the late 70's or early '80) was out of the Quadrangle line.

I like Buckpasser (getting more difficult to find any close up) and Roberto lines for jumping. Gotta be careful with the Roberto temperament though. Don't know any in the area where you're looking but you should ck. this guy out - www.debracysporthorses.com Her stallion Sea Accounts just completed 100day test with very good results. Not a plug for me, I don't even know this person, but do plan to go see the stallion. Also, I just saw Sharan. A grass horse that raced in Europe and in CA. He's gorgeous. 16.3, built uphill, beautiful head and very kind temperament. He's at Dormello II Stud in Decatur, TX.

I realize your post is a bit old, and you may not even come here anymore, but there is no email address, so I just post here.....

Interesting that you mention BONNE NUIT. I don't have a TB stallion with this fabulous jumping line, but a four year old X-bred mare. I sold her fabulous big full brother earlier this year, and so tragically, he was dead three days after he left home. I wanted to keep him as a stallion, but unfortunately, his testicles just didn't want to come down, even though they were in the inguinal canal. One would descend every now and then, but the other one never dropped, so I gave up on his stallion aspects. He had such tremendous jumping prowess which finally was his undoing as he was overconfident and tried to jump a six foo, very small paddock enclosure out of a virtual stand in his new home, shortly after he arrived there. It was a true heartbreaker and I realized too late that this was not the right party to sell this talented horse too.
In any event, I still have his sister. She is four now, going on five, and she had a VERY lovely filly foal by my super QH/Percheron stallion who also is a verytalented jumper [I was born and raised in GErmany, and jumping is what I love best which includes eventing].
"Pumpkin" stands 16.1, and her dam was by Night Before Last who was by Night Lark by Bonne Nuit. I don't know if you know Mrs. Peggy Whitehurst, the owner of Night Before Last. She and her husband passed away and the Grand Prix dressage Connemare gelding by him, Last Scene, trained and shown by Lendon Grey was retired following his honorable demo performance at the Atlanta Olympics.
This mare is a superb and ever so soft and light mover, but I haven't started her under saddle. Rather, I let her have a baby, to see what she can throw. She is still plenty young to enter a show career.

I do too, but then each horse has its own temperament, and as far as that goes, my QH/Percheron stallion is the sweetest and most responsive horse I have ever owned. He's a WB type mover also and has superb babies. He crosses exceptionally well with TBs as he passes on excellent bone, a God given temperament and honesty, and unequalled soundness.
While he was not professionally trained much, he has jumped 5 feet with ease [free jumping], and loved it. If you were at all interested in him, I would let you lease him out as I am not in a position next year to breed any mares. I'm planning on moving to Tx and will have to sell most of my herd [have 18], even though I hate selling any of them. If you know of someone who is looking for a superb TB/Trakehner broodmare, please let me know. She stands about 16.2 and has tremendous substance and a marvelous disposition. She had 3 babies and they are super nice too.
Am trying to sell her 2-year old which stands 16 hands right now; she is 3/4 TB as she was sired by a sweet stallion I used to have, by the name of Southern Sunset [grey]. Got a bay out of two greys. Go figure.
This Trak mare has some of the best foundation blood anywhere such as Meckensen, Hessenstein, Donauwind [sire of Abdullah], Lucado, and many more.

I also have 3 mares with Secretariat breeding, but I realize you are looking for a stallion and not a mare, lol.

I could possibly recommend a good many stallions to you, but would have to ask what your price range is in terms of stud fee. Finding a racing TB with a longer than average neck is a bit harder these days, but they are out there. The taller ones also tend to be longer in the back, but personally, I think these long neck/short back WBs look out of balance to me.
There was a TB stallion for sale for $3K in Mass. HIs name is HOT SPOT, and he stands 17 hands tall. Don't know if he is still available. Was a bit light in bone though.

I believe that the breeding of a TB stallion is only important as to the soundness issues. And while the Mr. Prospector horses are often good looking and tall with good necks and short backs, they do have soundness issues. Many only race a few times and are then retired.
Secretariat, Buckpasser, Seattle Slew were all sound horses as far as soundness goes with race horses. I heard that the Seattle Slews awre very crafty jumpers, but this is probably a very individual matter and you just have to go by the individual and not by the breeding alone.

You could also take a look at the sons of Easy Goer. He sired Cayman Went, Merciful Judge and With Ease all are successful 3 day eventers. Willhewonthe, a 1/2 brother to Will's Way is a successful foxhunter in Virginia. Out in Left Field is shown as a hunter too.
