Service Stripe new to PA

I just spoke to Pin Oak Lane Stud and the contract has been signed on Service Stripe. They haven't yet signed the contract on Buddha yet, but it's looking like he will move to PA.

We're not Korea guys, he might fit well here.

They are also trying to get 2 more stallions but she didn't say who.

Thanks for keeping us up-to-date on new stallions in PA.

Although in general, I have to admit I'm kind of underwhelmed with these latest additions to the PA roster, I'm an Unbridled's Song fan & think that specifically with your Wheelaway mare, if you are OK with the 3 x 3 to Unbridled, you get a Rasmussen factor [5 x 5] to Kerala through her good son Damascus & also via a daughter, Beaufix. Cross-balanced duplicates on Kerala looks good on paper, if Buddha fits your mare conformationally & on other factors. But lots of people say 3 x 3 is too close, so make your own best judgment. I'm kinda new at this, so take my opinion for what it's worth!

And at the risk of hijacking your thread -- if, by chance, you ever re-acquire Milehighkisses -- take her to a Turn-To line sire [who has all the other attributes you want, in addition to that sire line]. Just a thought from this amateur pedigree-person.

Any idea which stallions Pin Oak Lane might discard? Or do they have room for all that additional talent?

Also, any sense of how Will's Way is holding up in the fertility department? If I recall correctly, the numbers a year ago weren't so hot.

Pin Oak Lane isn't going to be standing Real Quiet, not sure about the others except Lite the Fuse, he's staying. They didn't say anything about losing anyone else.

I'll read the article about Northview, thanks for pointing it out. That's welcome news, but not for MD. I think they wouldn't have made that decision if they thought for sure slots were coming to MD.

If we do get Milehighkisses back I'll keep the Turn To line in mind. Thanks.
If I hear anymore news about stallions relocating to PA I'll let you all know.

I'm not sure, she didn't say. I've been trying to figure it out, whether he's staying in PA just going to another farm. Or if he's going to NY, or back to KY.

As soon as I find out, I'll post it, or if anyone else knows, let us know.

Interested to see where RQ ends up, for sure. Yes, please do let me know--anyone--if they know anything. Did he cover a full book of mares last season for Pin Oak? I know he was sidelined somewhat early in the season by some foot? ailment. Never saw or can't recall if he came back to cover all his expected mares, or with what success.

I "heard" a story that said he was going to Louisiana. That from someone who was planning on breeding to him. They, however, wouldn't tell me who they heard it from so it remains just a "story."

Anyone ever have a mare foal out at the PA Farm?

Is the farm easy to deal with and knowledgable?

Did your mare come back pregnant and in as good of a physical condition as when she got there?

I am actually considering dropping in PA and breeding back to Service Stripe. I think the PA-Bred program is starting to look interesting. I was considering the NJ program but am rethinking....

Things here in MA are beginning to look shaky. The state won't allow slots at tracks. It's casino or nothing. Problem is Trump and MGM are 2 people bidding against Suffolk for the one bidding right in the Boston area.

I haven't sent a mare to Pin Oak Lane for foaling. I'm thinking about foaling my own out, but that won't be until 2009, I'll be 2 years older and may think better of it. I have been out on the farm and the horses all look great. I didn't look at the stallions yet, I'm waiting for all the contracts being signed and the stallions shipping in.

But, I have been there and saw all the ones out in the fields, they looked fine. I haven't heard anything negative, but I would ask if the mare will stay on the farm or a satelite farm, I did visit one of those looking to board my mare and they don't feed the mares that are out in the field in the summer. They feel they get enough grass and if need be supplemented with hay. I'm sorry, I want my mare to recieve grain in some form, whether it's sweet feed or pelleted, she is to be fed.

So, I'd just ask about that.................

Pokeyman, PM me if you are interested in foaling at our farm. We're not the least expensive in PA, but we DO care about ALL the horses on our property & we treat boarders at least as well as our own . . . I can't say we treat them better, because we treat our own very well, indeed. [Actually, we can also point you toward less expensive farms in PA, although we can only give you names on them, not references.]

You can foal here, breed elsewhere, if you like [Pin Oak, which will have ServiceStripe, is about 45 minutes away, for example.] We can provide transportation. We have no more than 25 horses on the property at any time -- visit us to decide. Our mares are dappled & healthy & happy & we favor quality over quantity.

Real Quiet to La? That would be an interesting move indeed. Am I right in thinking that breeding incentives in La are fairly good? And purses at Fair Grounds (at least last year) were very good indeed. I really wish that Real Quiet could get some stability - he can get very good horses but he's had awful luck with the tragedy at his previous PA farm and then the hiatus forced by the foot problem this year. Still, 80 mares is a decent number - hopefully they were the right mares. I still remain a big Real Quiet fan.

Also could he sustain the current 5K fee in the La market? Perhaps an announcement will be held off until folk see how Midnight Lute performs in the B.C. Sprint, as he is currently holding the highest Beyer of the year so far although I'm sorry to say I don't think Midnight Lute is a real 6f sprinty sprinter. But he is a very good horse and has every bit the racing heart that Real Quiet did.

Actually, speaking of sprinters, there are lots of mares from Fabulous Strike's family in PA. Wonder how they'd cross with RQ, although it might be too late to ask . . .
