Darley Fees

Postby Tesio » Tue Oct 30, 2007 7:54 am

Fees have been announced for 2008.

Street Cry $100K
Street Sense $75K
Hard Spun $50K
Discreet Cat $30K
Elusive Quality $75K
Songster $10K

All others remain the same including Cherokee Run who had a big year.

Noticeably absent is Any Given Saturday. Could it be he will remain in training?

Not yet, they are taking their time with Harlan's Holiday, Proud Citizen and their other "hotter" ones.

Should be this week.

Interesting that Discreet Cat is on there, since I just finished reading an article that said plans for his future were "undecided".

Has Bernadini been bred to any mares? They have been mum about it all breeding season. Just curious since he was heralded as the second coming of Pegasus....and has a fee of $100,000.

He saw quite a few mares and has good fertility. His book was only open to graded stakes winners and dams of graded stakes winners, with a select few exceptions if the mare was a half to a recent graded winner of note.

We sent one mare to him and she caught on the first cover in mid March.

The 2007 Report of Mares Bred shows that Bernardini was bred to 133 mares. I don't think they need to cry it from the roof tops.

Somebody please tell me why anybody should get excited over Songster at that price?

And how many folks to you reckon will breed to him or buy "derby hopefuls" from him, even though there is nothing but 6f speed in 4 generations?

I agree. I find it hard to believe there is anyone "excited" over Songster as a stallion prospect.

This might be a difficult sell, even at $5K much less $10K.

Just got off the phone with them, they're keeping Any Given Saturday in training.
