Looking for some mating advice with my 2 broodmares with these stallions. Leaning towards KY at this point, as not sold on the percentages of getting a Graded Stakes level winner regionally in the Mid-Atlantic. Looking to keep stud fees at total of about $45,000 or less - so most likely would be one with Officer or Pleasantly Perfect and the other with Jump Start or Point Given.
New Meaning by General Meeting out of Big Spirit. First three foals by Fu Peg, Tale of the Cat and Roman Ruler. Physically stands 16, longer and leaner could use some scope and hip.
Eye Appeal by Cat Chief out of Sunny Mimosa, half sister to Delaware Township, First foal Dance Master, Second Exchange Rate. Stands 16'2, nice physically.
Appreciate the thoughts.
Thanks.

On paper New Meaning would go well with Point Given. PG has done really quite well with Seattle Slew blood (Sealy Hill, Point Ashley, Point Determined, etc) and as he has had some good results with grass/poly horses that should bring out some of the deep grass background of New Meaning. This would be a fairly stout mating stamina-wise, although I wouldn't let that put you off. Go Between, Point Determine, Point Ashley, and Winning Point all hail from fairly stamina-heavy mare lines and they did just fine.
I would send Eye Appeal to Yes It's True to get an extended version of the cross that produced Delaware Township. His 2008 fee is $35,000. You may be able to deal with Three Chimneys with him because of your mare's family and the mating in question.

Kimberly,
Thanks. Really appreciate the well thought out feedback. I too liked the Point Given cross for New Meaning. Interested in your comment on "deep grass background" - what part of New Meaning's pedigree do you attribute that to?
I had been looking for a cross to Notebook to duplicate Delaware Township and only thing I could find was Fappiano's notebook out of FL who does not have much of a track record so far. Really like the Yes Its True cross with Raha Baba and Bold Ruler/Missa Baba. 35k may be a little steep, is your experience they might do something due to mare's family and mating? I did go to Three Chimneys last year with New Meaning to Albert the Great....

Hi
Have you looked at El Prado sons? El Prado is from the same immediate female family as Notebook, with both stallions having Caps and Bells as their second dams. Artie Schiller, Borrego, Kitten's Joy, and Medaglia d' Oro come to mind.

New Meaning is out of a nice Golden Eagle family that has deep turf roots if you know where to look. New Meaning's half-sister Spirit of Eagles produced the exceptional German horses Silvano and Sabiango, both of whom were Gr-1 turf winners on multiple continents. Her 2nd dam, Big Spirit, produced Gr-1 turf winner Beautiful Meadow (Beverly Hills H.) and the dam of Beautiful Aly, whose daughter Kindred Soul placed in the La Habra stakes on turf. New Meaning's 3rd dam, Baby La, took 2nd in the Del Mar Oaks (also on the lawn).
While this family gets a LOT of good dirt horses, it has such consistently good grass horses that it's worth trying to pull out the grass breeding there. Especially with Point Given. Given the results of Sealy Hill, it's entirely feasible that this horse would also do well on the poly, which opens up Keeneland, Woodbine, and the California tracks.

I see nothing on his female side that would be a problem, and the Notebook certainly is a plus.
I'm assuming you're talking about Eye Appeal here. This mating would be 3x3 to Storm Cat. That isn't necessarily a bad thing in and of itself--but it probably hasn't been tried much so finding evidence to show if it is good or bad will be difficult. Storm Cat is known for passing on offset knees and (to a lesser extent) breathing problems, so evaluate your mare very carefully against that possibility.
