talamo

Postby bdw0617 » Fri Dec 21, 2007 2:12 pm

fired Ebanks and goes with Scotty McClellan as a jock agent. That is pretty darn shocking to me, espically after watching the countless reruns on TVG of Ebanks being like a father figure to Talamo, tucking him in at night, making him do his homework, etc, lol

I can think of 2 reasons why it happened, one more than the other. First of all, Ebanks was not living in Cali this time last year, he might be tired of it all and want to go back to I think Florida.

The more likely reason is that he doesn't like the fct tyler baze, his other client, is getting 2x or more the mounts than he is.

He made a change. He's young and made a change. Ebanks has done a fabulous job with both of his riders. Developing Joe and bringing Tyler back into the "spotlight." Guy is a great agent, IMO. So is Scott.

if I'm wrong I'm wrong, but no one says "man you are so great for me, I'm going to go get a new jock agent"

what i am saying is, what happened?

Part of what Joe does really well is conducts himself very professionally. Never has a bad thing to say. And would never conduct an interview such as the one on TVG and and say anything negative as to the change of agents.
I think we might be back to the public and their desperate desire for full disclosure.
It's their business

You think Tuc is the National Enquirer? LOL!

Meanwhile, Joe Talamo just gave Final Fling a really nice ride for Tuc's hero, Jeff Mullins.

for anything having to do with socal racing, YES!!!

He's a good hard working young rider. pound for pound probably the best young jock out there. I saw what he did day in and day out back at fair grounds, He flat out took older jocks like Robby to school on a daily basis.

I'm not even saying it's a bad move. I like Ebanks, tuc is right, he is very professoinal and does a great job, and I like his new agent as well.
He's solis' agent isn't he?

Very immature handling of the situation by Talamo. Merry Christmas Ebanks! I am throwing Talamo off all my horses for this one.

On HRTV, Ebanks was clearly blinsided by this--very sad for someone who did a lot for this kid. I like Joe, but he blew it on a personal/charachter level, if not also on a business/professional level. It sounds like it was Talamo's "friends and family" putting stuff in his head like Baze is getting all the best mounts, etc, but Ebanks did a great job explaining how it's the owners and trainers asking for the jocks in most cases, not the agent picking rides for one boy or another, choosing one over the other, and when Talamo gave him the ultimatum of get rid of Baze or I walk, Ebanks said he wouldn't do that to either of them (Talamo or Baze). Now THAT's charachter.

Tuc, it is business, but it's still a display of a great lack of charachter.

Having been an agent in the past I can only conclude one thing. They dont call em pinheads for nothing!

95% of jockeys are malcontents, they dont work as hard as they could, they complain when things are going well, they get pissy with trainers when they take them off of one horse (even though they are riding others for that trainer). When they start to lose business they complain even more, they blame everyone for there problems except themselves.

Being a jocks agent can be a great job with a classy hardworking rider but when they are neither you might as well be shirnk! At least your paid more by the hour!

Tyler Baze 169 28 34 22

Joseph Talamo 97 17 16 7

if that's not grounds for getting canned I don't know what is.

I'm with smokin joe on this one. he has 70 less mounts, and HAS A HIGHER WIN PERCENTAGE!!!

The fact that Talamo has a higher win percentage says that he wasn't playing second fiddle behind Tyler Baze - he was getting his share of live mounts and not just Baze's leftovers. When a new rider on a major circuit is winning at an 18% clip, he doesn't have much to complain about.
