Possible Palomino TB?

Postby jellac » Tue Jan 15, 2008 12:51 pm

Color enthusiasts - thought I'd call your attention to the banner ad above that features a TB gelding that's probabally isn't a palomino, but certainly is that rarity: chestnut with flaxen mane AND tail.....

Yes rare, but likely NOT a Thoroughbred. He looks more like a Morgan or Saddlebred in the photo, and is apparently unregistered.

According to http://ilhbpa.com/index.aspx?itemid=1013&fromcat=6

and the horse's location on this page of horses for sale seems to indicate he is/was a TB racehorse.

My ex has a similarly colored gelding named Meet Me Mudder.

If he is the 2005 son of Flame Thrower he definitely has the right to have a flaxen mane and tail.

considering there are at least 4 cremello tb sires out there why would it not be expected to start seeing palomino colored horses?

:D I have a lovely tb colt chestnut with flaxen mane and tail with 4 white socks to boot. gorgeous. By Tragectory. Sadly out of the mare Petionette who died recently here at the farm. She had only a white star and did have half of a white udder. So possibly threw some colour herself. at some point I will try to post a pic.

Oh!!! I know that horse! Yes, he definitely has a very flaxen mane and tail, and did from the day he was born. Small world....

Interesting - both Meet Me Mudder (Sweetsouthernsaint) and Providor (Flame Thrower) are grandsons of Saint Ballado thru their sires.

If it is Providor, he has a lovely female family.

Palomino Thoroughbreds

Postby Olivia65 » Sat Jan 19, 2008 6:19 pm

For anyone who is interested....there are numerous Palomino Thoroughbreds alive now....I don't think any are racing yet but in a few short weeks, I will have a Palomino Thoroughbred. My TB Chestnut mare, A Coul Victory, was bred to a TB Cremello Stallion in Lancaster, California. His name is White Magic3 and he is a 2003 model. Our mare is due on March 26th....I will post pictures of our foal if anyone would be interested. As you can see, we are just a little<---------------------------------------------------> excited!

Olivia I would love to see pics! And I dont blame you one bit for being so excited!

I trained another filly with an almost flaxen mane - JP's Chessie http://pets.webshots.com/photo/14148389 ... 5089PLrsHR

http://www.pedigreequery.com/jps+chessie

No clue where her lighter almost flax mane came from, any ideas?
