Breeding Suggestions
Could anyone give me suggestions as to which sire lines or New York sires to breed my mare to?
http://www.pedigreequery.com/silver+colony2
She is bred for stamina (Silver Hawk AND Pleasant Colony) so I'm leaning towards a speedy miler, I think. The only thing is that she does not look like she will carry distance. She is about 15.2 and is big boned. She has turf on the top and dirt on the bottom. She herself raced on turf.
I just need help in which direction I could go.

I would consider Lite the Fuse in PA if transport wasnt an issue.
I also found a pedigree for Nayyir G2 & G3 winner. Indian Ridge sire line with Silver Hawk as BMS with Northern Dancer and Ribot strains. Legal Jousting stands in Ontario, a son of Indian Ridge and is advertised under the stallion heading.

Silver Hawk has done really well with Danzig line mares but I like the paper match with Smooth Jazz, this mating rates a GSV of 62.75, not bad, and the cross gives a 5X5 to Northern Dancer, a 4X5 to Drumtop and 4X5 to the full brothers His Majesty and Graustark. The match I really like is with Fast Play, this gives a whopping GSV of 73.92 and a 3X5 to Buckpasser and 4X5 to Hail to Reason. Hope this helps some.

In consideration of the poor production of the female family, excluding the 2nd dam Costlly Shoes, my advice is for a substantial outbreeding to a strong, consistent and durable runner.
I suggest 3 names:
MILWAUKEE BREW
DELAWARE TOWNSHIP both standing in Florida
and my favourite
CETEWAYO (linebreeding to RIBOT) in Pa.

I'm biased, since I work with the folks at Buckridge, but Smooth Jazz is currently the ONLY graded stakes winner from the Storm Cat sireline at stud in NY. And even though his oldest runners are only 3, he is also the ONLY current NY sire from the Storm Cat line to PRODUCE a graded stakes winner, too, that being Smooth Air. At $3,000, I'd argue he is one of the best bargains in the state right now.

archy, why not try stanislavsky. first of all dehere is from your mare silver colony's family. you get 4x4 bill and i in this mating. nureyev is tail female to rough shod which is doubled through topsider 6x8. plus you double full brothers his majesty and graustark 4x5. infact looking at pleasant colony & key to the mint they are quite closely related by blood. buckpasser is doubled 5x5, secretariat is bred on the reverse to drumtop dam of topsider. i wouldnt think stanislavsky would be all that commercial but the pedigree matches up very nicely. also dehere's full brother defrere is based at walnford stud new jersey could be a possible by extension and might be more commercial/proven.

Patrick,
Thank you.....We have been on and off Stanislavsky. We were going to send our mare to him last year, but then Jade Hunter came into the state and we went with him. Unfortunately, she aborted late. However, Stanislavsky come up every year. It seems that his foals seem to come out well enough. One yearling sold for over $100K last summer. So I think he's going to be back on the short list again..
There will be a cross between Bill and I. I rarely see a cross between females in the pedigrees that I have read. Is that rare in the US and more common overseas? I'm about to read Alan Porter's article about inbreeding siblings. Maybe it will give me more information
Thanks.
