That sounds like a plan, get into breeding TB's that can't run and have a very high rate of disapointment the minute they are born. Why not develop a business plan around putting your money into slot machines?

Actually I was at Keeneland in January and watched Dalene Knight's short yearling white colt go under the hammer for $80K. It was an exceptionally well conformed colt, but certainly not race bred. It WAS pure white. Have you done so well with your race breedings that you think breeding a colored TB to sell for a price like that is a BAD business idea?

I have a big chestnut mare I seriously considered sending to Guaranteed Gold this year but the budget says no right now. A palomino TB foal can be sold for relatively BIG bucks prior to weaning. Provided the breeder intends to bring the horse along in the show world, care for it, and offer it a good life, why be critical?

Everyone involved in that deal (including the Japanese investors) lost tons of money - except us who made a little. Those little cow hocked ponies used to bring lots too. If you are going to be in the TB business the only color you should be concerned with is green (IMHO).

Lasma East was the KY farm of the LaCroix.. if I remember correctly. They had a BIG scottsdale Arabian breeding operation.. The Lane's End of the Arabian show horse world to put it in sites.. They stood a beautful Ch stallion named Muscat, as well as the Mr. Prospector of all Arabians *Bask..
