Best racing name from Stallion/Mare Combination

Postby wilf » Wed Mar 05, 2008 5:53 pm

Since I was a kid I always thought that the best named runner that I ever watched was the colt SING SING who raced in England This horse was by Tudor Minstrel out of the mare Agin The Law. For those members overseas not familiar with the USA or it's correctional facilities, SING SING is a prison just north of New York City.

I always thought Blushing Groom was quite good, he being by Red God out of Runaway Bride.
"A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher...You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse." C. S. Lewis

St Ballado x Goulash = Ashado.. I ALWAYS thought that was a particularly cool combination.

Social Outcast x Shut Out out of Pansy.

Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt at his witty best.

Another good one of his was Splitting Headache x The Axe out of Top o'the Morning.

I always wanted to have a Hawaii* mare, so I could breed her to Two Punch, and call the foal Hawaiian Punch!

I believe in a name which sounds good when it is announced by a speaker on the race track. Not too long or too difficult and a connection of sire and dam:
Vestal Heights by Erminius - Vestal Bell (by Sirley Heights).
