If Spitzer wasn't the AG who relentlessly pursued people, companies etc., who HE deemed amoral this would not be as bad as it is..

Spitzer here is the "crusader rabbit"

Wonder how long it will be before someone names a horse "Client Number Nine"

You know, this stuff is so "60's", it's not even newsworthy but for the fact that he held other people up to high standards of ethics. America lags way behind in approaches to sex-for-money,it's so street corner and code name nonsense,no wonder the tabloids have a field day. I mean take a look at the guy,if ever someone needed to run off a little pressure it's Spitzer. It's such a shame really as his teenage daughters will suffer at an age when they need some support and reassurance, his wife looks like she's a gonner, poor cow! What the hell was he thinking or was Mr Wobbly doing that job.?

Love Potion Number 9

Postby hpkingjr » Tue Mar 11, 2008 12:31 pm

The Gov's ID of Number 9 caused me to remember the lyrics of this old song appropriately by the Searchers:

The Searchers

LOVE POTION NUMBER NINE

I took my troubles down to Madame Rue
You know that gypsy with the gold-capped tooth
She's got a pad down on Thirty-Fourth and Vine
Sellin' little bottles of Love Potion Number Nine

I told her that I was a flop with chics
I've been this way since 1956
She looked at my palm and she made a magic sign
She said "What you need is Love Potion Number Nine"

She bent down and turned around and gave me a wink
She said "I'm gonna make it up right here in the sink"
It smelled like turpentine, it looked like Indian ink
I held my nose, I closed my eyes, I took a drink

I didn't know if it was day or night
I started kissin' everything in sight
But when I kissed a cop down on Thirty-Fourth and Vine
He broke my little bottle of Love Potion Number Nine

ageecee, Swaggert stepped down but thought these two bastions of morality (Swaggert preaching and Spitzer prosecuting) spending much time and and money on what they so aggressively condemn are in a dead heat for hypocrisy.

Got a good laugh from your post Northstar!

Kinda sad for his family as he has three wonderful daughters and a wonderful wife.

I have been to the "erotic clubs", but having never have had to purchased a woman for such purposes, I am curious as to what would drive a man with power, wealth and stature to seek that discreet liasion with "Kristen." I wonder what made her so special? From what I have heard he had been seeing her for about a year and he wanted to make an additional deposit into the account so that he could have credit for the next tryst. I don't know, I think it is kinda sad, particularly sad for his family but at the same time I find I get a good chortle from it, but don't understand why.

Hopkingjr,
Your post was very funny. Of course, I am way too young to have ever heard of the Searchers, or to know anything about the song.

Some of this story could be about American prudery but I think what's really giving it legs is old fashioned breathtaking hypocrisy. I know that's what's making me chuckle. Put Spitzer in tights and set it in Verona and this is Shakespeare :D

Actually, if Spitzer were to resign, the Lt Gov would become Gov, the the LT Gov office would remain empty until the next election, with any of the Lt Gov's duties necessary being assumed by Bruno, although he would not be the Lt Gov in name. Minor detail, i know.

for Sysonby.."Two households both alike in dignity, in fair Verona where we lay our scene. From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, where civil blood makes civil hands unclean." Oh boy Shakespeare would have had a ball these past few days.

NO doubt, hilarious!

Last I read the Gov stepped down, probably the right thing to do all things considered. Guess "Kristen" is a young lady from Jersey ... all the details about her can be found anywhere! She is likely to be a big media star and of course she'll do a spread in Playboy. Strange, strange world.
