At some point, I would like to breed her to my stallion - Guaranteed Gold - and get a nice buckskin foal to run myself and hopefully get some credibility for GG as a possible race sire, but for the short term, I think I need to think "commercially" and breed her to something that already has some good, solid race credentials to produce a foal that has commercial appeal

I am in Ontario, Canada and owing to how late it is I need to limit the stallion choices to reasonably close proximity to me. Plus - with building a new barn and still needing to seed pastures and hay field and put up paddocks, I have got to stick with a lower stud fee for this year. Next year I can get a little crazier but this year just cant do so

Who are the "good deals" out there? Any up and coming stallions that would cross well with her? Any sell offs of breedings that might be of interest?

Alumni Hall and Weather Warning have both been suggested as good crosses with her, especially Weather Warning with Carson City in as the broodmare sire (owing to the fact that Cuvee - the sire of her 2006 colt - is by Carson City as well). Which cross do you all like with her - either these 2 stallions who are close by and easy for me to get to or another one that havent thought of that is in close proximity as well, in the $5000.00 and under range? Ontario or upper state New York would work well as I can easily ship here to those areas myself

The Asmussen's bought the 2006 Cuvee colt - Promise Me Wine. I am REALLY hoping that he goes out this year and next and kicks some butt out there which should definately help raise her value and the value of her foals!

Thanks so much for any and all opinions and assistance on this one! :)

I think you should look at Whiskey Wisdom, he is listed as 3.5K(CAN) and I assume he is close to you. This would be similar breeding to her good filly She Is A Wild One, by Wild Zone. I ran an e-nick or her and got an "A", and I know that means very little, however, I think if they are a good physical match it is worht a try at this late date.

I know we are a little out of the way from where you are, but Tejano Run has a nice filly now, Fleet Caroline who is out of an Afleet mare. She is a Stakes winner this year and just ran 2nd at Santa Anita in the American Beauty Handicap (last weekend) and was G2 placed at Del Mar last year. A winner on Dirt, Turf and Poly.

If you are at all interested send a PM. We have links to her races on our website

Interesting to pull the Werk ratings on her ...

Whiskey Wisdom crossed with her give an "A" rating and (+175%) and crossed with Weather Warning she is also an "A" with a (+370%) score but Alumni Hall wins hands down with a Werk of "A" (+465%)!

The DP's are also interesting

18 for Whiskey Wisdom, 20 for Weather Warning and 30 for Alumni Hall!

The DI's and CD's are pretty well the same across the board for all 3 stallions ...

So - if we can get all of this put together, looks like she is going to go to Alumni Hall this year and then I cross my fingers and pray for a superstar youngster from that cross! :)

I was just about to bring up Tejano Run on another board you posted her details on. He is one of the best stallions available in Ontario.

Another I would consider, depending on how the pedigrees work together is Domasca Dan. He is only $1500 and is 10x the stallion that a lot of the $5,000 new kids on the block have any realistic hope of being.

I like Whisky Wisdom as a horse, and would breed a mare to him long, long before I'd breed a mare to Weather Warning, no matter what the enick rating says.

Ack! Just when I thought I had all of this figured out ... you guys go and throw some other good possibilities my way! :?

Ascot Stud - you are actually quite close. Until we get our paddock in she is going to the Stoney Creek area so just a little ways away from you!

...sigh... let me mull this one over.

True Colours-we tried to buy this mare to send to Gone Fishin. Now we know why we didn't get a final reply from the seller. :D Give him a thought as well. He's even close to Stoney Creek!

You'd really like Tejano Run. He's a chestnut with a belly spot. Right up your alley!

My advice is for COMPADRE

Stands at Colebrook Farms Stallion Station in Uxbridge, Ontario
Very durable runner.

Considering that your mare is ND free, an outcross introducing ND through a champion (El Gran Senor), plus some good back german lines may be a reasonable and not expensive choice.
Note that two of the better products of Compadre (No Comprende and Millfleet) have argentinian roots.

Well - I am happy to report that I got my mare covered this morning, by Alumni Hall, who is a stunning stallion and a real gentleman as well

There was NO problem with his libido (!) - he came prancing and dancing down from the stallion barn to the breeding area and knew why he was there and was looking for my mare as soon as he walked into the barn. Everything was very low key, he was very relaxed, he got the job done and one of the assistants got a dismount sample of semen, put it on a slide and I viewed it under the microscope as well. NO doubt in my mind from viewing that sample that he also has excellent semen quality! :) And there are one heck of a lot of swimmers in there as well ...

So - I can say that both rumors are now laid to rest in my mind!

Now the long wait for the next 15 days until she gets checked to see if she caught or not ...

Wish us luck! :)
