Bill, I've used it in its various forms. Most of the stuff you get in tack shops is in small dosages, I used to get L-tryophan (another form I guess) from my vet and it helped my nervous old horse. B1 and calcium seems to work best and together they work good too, but there is a point where too much edge is taken off. I've found that the best thing is training them to accept their surroundings whatever those surroundings are. A good dose of John Lyons works wonders.

C Gold is one of many "calming agents" used on race day (and other days). It helps the horse deal with what is going to happen that day.

B1 calcium is one, ACTH, Mag, and C Gold can all be used, with varying degrees of effectiveness.

Might add, all of these are administered by the vet as with all injections at the track.

It's one of those things we try to keep to ourselves...lol. But don't very successfully. he he he he

I am guessing you wanted to say tryptophan(sp). It's what Thanksgiving is so famous for. That full, after turkey dinner sleepiness that happens is due to tryptophan. It can be found in tons of calmers. BUT years ago I found that it helps to speed up muscle fatigue which isn't a good thing for an athelete. There is much better than tryptophan. Like training and schooling.
