Just google "adequan" and you will get more than enough information on the drug.

Essentially it is used for joint problems or the prevention of joint problems so when your vet says he wants to administer for soreness let's hope he is talking soreness related to the joint and not soft tissue.

Adequan IA or just a course of adequan? Either work well. Though IA it works better for some issues than others

This is a treatment for joints as well as OCD issues, not cheap. However it has good stats for working.
Thanks,

There are generic products that are substantially less expensive.

madelyn,

Can you go further on this one? There are a couple of products being marketed as generics of Adequan and they are not FDA approved as they are supposed to. Can you list any FDA approved generic?

Typically, the generics come from compounding pharmacies and do not have "brand" names per se .. Cornerstone Pharmacy has a product labelled as "polyglycan" and I believe Wickliff might have one. I think, also, there is one called "Chondro-Protect." I have absolutely no involvement with any manufacturer of any drugs, medications, etc., and am not qualified to make any statements regarding FDA approval.
