Stats on Kitalpha

Postby winningcolors1988 » Wed Jul 23, 2008 8:16 am

I read in a newsletter that Kitalpha's second crop statistics as of June 2008, were:

Kitalpha 44 Starters 26(59%)Winners 7(16%)SWs

I can't find this information anywhere else. Does anyone here know where it may have come from?

I can't find any stats from Zimbabwe where Kitalpha was standing up until this year. I did find this for South Africa, where Kitalpha has runners:

Leading Second Crop Sires of Season 2007-2008
South Africa only
1 August 2007 to 13 July 2008 inclusive

Kitalpha (USA), 1999, by Mr Prospector 16/3 0/0 0/0 62,658 Secret Life (SAF), $24,422

So it looks like he has had 16 runners and 3 winners in South Africa.

Does anyone here know where I might look to find additional stats on Kitalpha's second crop?

War Horse Place, where Kitalpha is listed as being at stud now, doesn't mention he is there, or any stats on his crops.

Any help much appreciated.

There are two 2008 foals and one 2009??? unnamed foal listed in the database here.

Can anyone can point me at a conformation photo, or yearling sales photo?

Not sure if this is what you were looking for, but this is one of Kitalpha's.

Lot 85, Whirling
http://209.85.215.104/search?q=cache:DN ... d=15&gl=us

The beginning of the breeding year is different in South Africa, I believe their year begins August 1, and ends July 31.

I had found this for the previous year:

Leading First Crop Sires of Season 2006-2007
Zimbabwe only
1 August 2006 to 31 July 2007 inclusive

2006 Rnrs/ SWs/ GSWs/ Earnings
-4 -3 -2 -1 Stallion Ctry Stud Fee Wnrs SWins G1SW AUS$ Top Earner, Season Earnings

- - - - 1 Kitalpha (USA), 1999, by Mr Prospector 1/0 0/0 0/0 435 Kabuki Lass (ZIM), $435

That listed Kitalpha as the lead first year sire, but he was the only first year sire in Zimbabwe.

That first year when including South Africa and Zimbabwe had showed this:
- - - - 126 Kitalpha (USA), 1999, by Mr Prospector 7/3 0/0 0/0 41,392 Secret Life (SAF), $23,068

So his second crop would be runners from August 2007 to July 2008. And will have his third crop starting next month, if I am interpreting all this correctly.

So in South Africa and Zimbabwe:

His first crop 7 runners 3 winners
Second Crop 16 runners 3 winners

But the info in the newsletter shows this second crop as:

Second Crop 44 runners 26 winners.

...so I am wondering where those other runners are? Where those numbers came from?

Any ideas?

Thanks for the link winningcolors, but what I'm looking for is a conformation photo of Kitalpha. Also of Miesque and Mythic Tribe another son of Miesque who is standing at teh Arrow Stud in Japan. So far tracking stallions who are in Japan has been very difficult. Anyone else have better success?

Thanks

I have seen a conformation photo of Kitalpha, but can't seem to find it right now. I will post it if I come across it again. I know some people who have looked at using him as a sire, and will see if they might have some photos of him from when they looked at him at the farm.

There is a picture of Miesque here, scroll down to the bottom...

Not sure if that one will help you though...

I saw Kitalpha about a week ago. Big strapping chestnut. Not real keen on manners, though. He is in Kentucky.

Thank you both! The Korean pedigree site is wonderful, and indeed has the picture of Miesque that I've been looking for. Any chance you have a line to the Japanese? Or for that matter does anyone know where the Argentine Thoroughbred Champion site has wandered off to?

Where in Kentucky does Kitalpha stand? And is there a chance that they have a conformation photo of him lurking about? The Database entry says that he's at War Horse Farm, but they don't have him listed as a stallion--in fact they don't have any stallions listed at all.

Again thank for your help with the research.

Thank you for the info, and many thanks to whoever posted that lovely large photo of Kitalpha.

Anyone out there have photos of Mythic Tribe, or Judpot?

I found a nice big photo of Mythic Tribe at https://www.jbis.or.jp/jbis_cgi/sp_deta ... 0000333904
but you can't copy the picture.

Thank you!!

Lovely photo, and I'd been looking for this kind of resource but hadn't figured out how to access the conformation photos.

I was looking at the photo of Kitalpha on PQ, and I have a question for the conformation experts.

Does his front pasterns seem thin/light boned in proportion to his body? Or do they just appear thin due to the way his front hooves are trimmed?

Also, does anyone happen to know why Kitalpha was unraced?

From what I have read, he was in training, even as a four year old, but never could get to the track because of recurring injuries.

He's got way too much heel on him. That might be affecting what you are seeing. Bonewise I think he looks OK but those heels may be distracting me...
