Breeding Adages

Postby merse » Sat Apr 18, 2009 2:12 pm

On another forum, someone posted an adage they use in breeding. This got me to thinking of adages on breeding that many of us use and I thought it might be interesting to start a thread to list some of them. One of my favorites is by Tessio who said:

"Between two pedigrees I always prefer the one that in the first five generations possesses the most CLASSICAL winners; the nearer they are the better."

Not quite sure who said it but I am always reading " Return the sire to the dam's best blood"

I think that was either Colonel E.R. Bradley or Olin Gentry.

If so, I think they were quoting Tesio.
