possible mating, need advice

Postby shoopic » Fri Feb 18, 2005 9:27 am

I have a half sister to SIEZE THE DAY 3rd in the hollywood preview stakes to Dulcans Moon. I noticed Ocala Stud puts Montbrook on Valid Appeal/World Appeal mares, 2 in particular. The results were STD mentioned above and FAVRE o/o Argos Appeal. Two pretty nice colts
considering. Sieze The Day sold or 115k Ocala sale last year.

My question is, I found a son of Montbrook, Royal Lad, his female tail
is quite appealing to me. Would this be of any value to breed my mare
Jazzy Princess o/o Dignified Woman by Zuppordo's Prince to Royal Lad.

Your opinoins are much appreciated
Brian

shoopic in my opinion, I would look for something other than an unknown stallion to breed to. Is this your mare first breeding, and if so there are other stallions in Louisiana that are in the same range that have produced some winners. I personally am not sure on who to recommed.

Have you checked out Erlton?

Erlton is in Louisiana and he is by Buckaroo-Am Sensational by Deputy Minister. He won several stakes and set a track record at Delaware Park. He is standing for $1500. Where your mare has some black type under her dam you may be able get a better deal than his advertised stud fee. Buckaroo is the sire of Montbrook. If you wanted to ship your mare to Kentucky Hard Buck does offer some value at $2500 where he is a millionaire grade I winning son of Spenda Buck also from the same sire line. If you go to an unproven stallion you should try going to one with a good race record.

Hard Buck is at Cloverleaf Farms II near Reddick, FL.
