It's A Bird tests positive

Postby Bedouwia » Wed May 27, 2009 2:42 pm

I just read that his drug tests (both split samples) at Oaklawn came back positive for Noproxine (sp?). Not good news at all. Apparently there will be a hearing early in June in Arkansas. Makes you wonder about his condition at Lone Star?

Why did they wait so late to announce the bad test? They knew a week after the race was run it was a bad test. I dont understand why they wait so late to announce it..

They should suspend the owner also. That would cut down on stuff like this.

Look out for that terrifying 10 day suspension to be handed down after about a 2 year appeal process.......
And DOWN the stretch they come!

I am of the opinon that is should be a three strikes you are out deal...
You have 3 bad tests, you cannot be licensed any longer-that could scare some of these people straight.

Don't understand the appeal process, the rules are not vague really..either the horse has a bad test or it does'nt.

Trainers are responsible for EVERYTHING that goes down in their barns, with the horses in their care-there should be no if ands or buts..

As for owners being charged-alot of stuff is administered without owner consent or knowledge. Alot of owners don't know enough to understand, while they should know-that is what they pay trainers for-right?

You forgot the debilitating $1,000 dollar fine too MM. Why risk such a fate for a mere $300,000 purse?

Yeah, but maybe . . . just maybe . . . you'd also get Yelled At. A crippling emotional event for all involved.

Well the horse is usually disqualified and the purse has to be RETURNED. The other horses in the race are moved up and the purse is redistributed. I can't imagine a trainer doing something like that KNOWINGLY.

There's no suspension for a class 4 medication like this (which is basically Aleve).

A purse redistribution on a $500k race IS serious though.

How much should always be taken into consideration.
I don't care if it is only Noproxine, enough of it will still effect the outcome of the race or the horse.

Wolfson and some other So. Fl. trainers got very indignant at Beyer's "supertrainer" article earlier this year. I realize it's not a "serious" med violation, but every edge helps in racing....every little edge.....and they certainly add up. There's a link on a DRF blog showing Wolfson has 4 medication violations in 2009 (so far) that resulted in verbal warnings. They were probably lower level overages and so forth, but who knows....swept under the rug....no public release...no nothing..... just keep scewing the handicappers and the clean trainers.
And DOWN the stretch they come!

Let's see they only suspended Biancone for 1 year for COBRA VENOM, and Wolfson gave the horse Aleve.........hmmmmmmmmmmm

Personally, I think that if the owners were fined and suspended then they might give more due diligence to what their trainers are doing. Hit them in their pocket book and you'll see changes.
