Rachel Alexandra in Mother Goose
They announced she's going to the Mother Goose. I heard she might be a bit tucked up. Is that true? Has anybody seen her in person recently that you could tell she wasn't looking as good physically as before the Oaks? Supposedly she'd even lost some weight going into the Preakness off of the Oaks win. I'm a big fan but I'm concerned, especially going for a one turn race here given the type of horse that might show up for that versus a two turn. I'll root real hard and hope things go well. I just want her safe and sound with a good set up for the fall.

Well if that's true, it's pretty amazing that she still put in that type of a poweful winning effort in the Preakness...
If she is 100% with some added poundage for the Goose, she will be ready to rumble on the lead
Haskell after the Mother Goose is still the race that fit's here well...Hope that's the route they take.

I second your sentiments, Bedouwia!! My mom's also a survivor, and my career revolves around Breast Cancer research, as well!!
I hope to get down to NYC this upcoming weekend to cheer her on!

Well, I am not in New York, but they have announced that next Saturday women will get into Belmont free and also they will be giving away pink bracelets. That's a good deal for those that are there. Rachael Alexandra has a real fan club and her own facebook page.... so maybe the publicity will help racing. I sure hope she does not disappoint.

Me too - just got my first haircut in over a year and am 6 months out from chemo's "toxic tea" and being zapped with daily radiation. WAY COOL! (as my nephew enthuses all the time) - of course he said the same thing about my 'Howie Mandell' appearance last summer!

I'm three months out of the radiation/chemo fun and games and just had my first haircut last week! But I didn't have the pink bracelet cancer. (Non-hodgkins lymphoma is lime green.) It's a great gesture that RA's connections are making though!
Wow! We have a real sisterhood going here. I'm hoping that somebody puts a few of those bracelets on Ebay or something. It would be great to have one.
I was a bit disappointed, but not surprised that Jess Jackson said today that Rachael Alexandra will not run in the Breeder's Cup. Maybe it is for the best -- we never have to know if she could beat Zenyetta? He did indicate that she might run as a four year old however. Anyway, one race at a time. I wish her well on Saturday.
