Layups in the Mid Atlantic

Postby ct2346 » Fri Jul 31, 2009 7:36 am

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good layup spot in the Mid Atlantic? (PA/MD/DE area?) Looking for a spot that will take a colt for 6 months or so...reasonably priced...

Any thoughts/recommendations would be appreciated....

If you can afford to send him to SC, I would HIGHLY recommend Glenview Farm in SC, Doris Rabon (843) 495-0634. If not, my mare is at Timber Ridge in Felton, PA and is getting great care. He takes in boarders so can try: Boggs Shoemaker, (717) 244-0000.

Also, if Harrisburg, PA is closer to you, Penn Ridge Farm where Cat Thief and Real Quiet stand take boarders. (717) 982-6210.

Not sure if this is a repeat, if so, sorry. I tried to do a second post and this came back up. Anyway, I added Penn Ridge Farm in Harrisburg, PA, (717) 982-6210.

If your colt meets the requirements, you may want to consider boarding it at a Delaware farm to get it Delaware certified. Details on the program and participating farms can be found at dtha.com.

Thanks, everyone for your recommendations. He's going to a farm there for approximately 6 months layup from a suspensory issue. We'll see how he comes back from it. I've found that it really helps to have recommendations like these. In the past I've used some farms without getting recommendations first and regretted it. I'll keep these for reference going forward. Thanks again.
