EASTERN ECHO

Hi All: Is the late EASTERN ECHO the last of the Paul Mellon bred sires? What kind of broodmare sire was he?

Red Ransom was also a Pul Mellon horse. I think that some of Eastern Echo's daughters will be good producers.

Hi-Liberty: You are right. Red Ransom was bred by Paul Mellon. It appears that the late art and racing benefactor had the same affinity for H2R that I have. But sadly, that is where any comparison stops. Best wishes - Shammy

Hi Shammy,

It dawned on me earlier this morning that the 3 top handicap horses in the US, in my opinion, are from the the Hail to Reason line:

Saint Liam - Saint Ballado

Roses in May - Devil His Due

Rock Hard Ten - Kris S

I think that I will start a new thread on the board with this info and stir up some of the Hail To Reason unsoundness freaks. And it would be even more interesting if Singletary, who descends from Turn To won the G1 mile at Santa Anita this weekend.

Yes, throw all the H2R fault posters in the cauldron and see what bubbles up. Though, I do have to give them an "A" for hanging on to a dying thread. Best wishes - Shammy

More to the point, Roses In May and Saint Liam are both from the Halo line, which has fallen out of fashion lately. Aside from a few Saint Ballados, they tend to want late and long.

On the distaff side, the only 3yo to win a gr-1 against older last year was Ashado, also from the Halo line.
