I had a question forwarded to me, and I thought I would post it here:
"...(from) the Thoroughbred Breeding [Mordaunt Milner] book... example... the non-runner in the Japan Cup 'Logi Universe' [from PQ site]......grand dam? 'Coup de Folie'...."Inbred 3 x 3 to 'Almahmoud' in Formula One fashion, a special formation of the Rasmussen factor, her sire and dam both descend in tail-female line to the same superior matriarch" pity the horse was injured, I read that it was a main danger, no wonder with F1 breeding."
...then...
"...I wanted to find out which Sires were from the best female families, for instance are there any current Sires from the 1-X family. And the sort of inbreeding you mentioned (above) is one I would like to be able to spot. I wonder if there is a list of Sires that do best in a 3 x 3 bit of inbreeding."
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Either a list of sires that do well with 3x3 inbreeding or any comments on the practice in general?

Dice roll. Turn-To is known to be very good when doubled-up, and some people believe he is also worthy of another added influence in the top of the pedigree (for three crosses!). Take a look at Broad Brush, a good indication of positive breeding three by three, but many would tell you it often spells disaster.
3x3 inbreeding to a mare produced Danehill, a top stallion in Europe and the dominant stallion of the last 20 years in Australia.

I have a question about Danehill.
Does anyone think he has a "filly" head? On the endless thread on inbreeding, this is mentioned a number of times. Enough that I actually started looking at Danehill's photos. I'm sure not seeing anything but a nice looking stallion.
Opinions? And if someone sees something could you give a description of what you are seeing?
Thanks

Roguelet I know you are overwhelmed trying to keep up with the posts, but did you see this link. I'm not sure whether it will help or not.

About 20 yrs ago, I tried the first 3x3 Mr. Prospector and the resulting filly turned out to be a good runner and producer. I think others tried it also with some success. As with any inbreeding, so much depends on the luck of the genetic dice roll and the conformation of the dam and sire. IMO, with Mr. P you needed a mare with a very correct front end.

The stallion is Cool Quaker. He's full of that good, old blood. We recently sold our only 2 Indy Mood daughters that would have been old enough for breeding this year, but that's certainly something to think about for the future.
