Caution, Please Read

Postby bluemoon » Wed Feb 03, 2010 6:38 am

Please be very careful if buying any horses from Roosevelt stable, or Poundridge stable without doing a full vet check at the very least. Many of these horses are posted on Handride and probably other sites, but most I have seen are on Handride. He is in PA. Deals with horses from Delaware, Penn, Tampa, etc.

This individual will sell anything with four legs as sound. He has been at it for years evidently. Please beware.

I sent you a PM also.
Irish Blarney is still listed for sale. The horse I bought is also referred to in his ad on Irish Blarney, although not by name. 3 year old filly, (now 4) Verifiable soundness, progressing like a nice horse should, cannot be duplicated in this price range. Yep, that is my girl.

I have a judgement against him that is about 14 years old from when he sold me a horse that did not exist. He sold the same non existant horse to at least three other people. He keeps literally everything in his wifes name so he has no assets to seize to settle the judgement.

horses for sale

When you look at the ad's on Handride it it apperent there is some deception. 1: they most always post the picture of the sire of the horse. I have never seen a picture of the real horse for sale. 2: never post PP's( I know that is a tinder box on the subject of PP's on this site BUT  .) If you call about a horse the call is always returned by a person that thinks he can sell you the Brooklyn Bridge. Just talking to him should put a person off.All the ad's say verfiable soundness. Dr. Mickey Mouse must be vetting the horses.
I don't think Handride has anything on the site that says they can refuse to post you ad.
Also ( Not defending RSS & P R) but I don't think they really know the first thing about the horses they are selling. I think they are just some kind of agent, pay for the ad's, do the talking on the phone and point you to the real owner and the horse and then get a com. if the horse is sold. They must have some kind of loop hole they hide behind. I know three people that have bought horses from them and were not happy to say the least.(NOT Me)
Also one of the people has a son that traines at Charles Town.
From what I can tell about the market right now ,is that anyone with a sound horse does not want to sell it. If for some reason a person has a sound horse for sale it most likely it would be picked up fast by someone in there inner circle.

Handride does not allow you to post and kind of warnings. Someone told me that although they are aware of complaints about him, they can't do anything.

I do see that Irish Blarney is not on the site anymore. It was still there on Friday. That one is gone as well as another one he had posted there for quite some time.

Martha,
I do not believe he uses Dynomic Values Corp, at least not to my knowledge.
although Handride does have actual photos of some of the horses they sell that are provided by the seller, he only provides sire photos. He said if people cannot realize that the photo is that of the sire ( it clearly states that) then that is their problem.
I am sure Handride is just a site people use for selling horses, I think they charge a fee, and no they are not liable for what is advertised.
I agree no one is going to sell a sound horse in this market, I have no one to blame buy myself, but I don't want anyone else to get taken. You always have hope things will turn out well.

horses for sale

Postby martha c. green » Mon Feb 08, 2010 10:03 am

Bluemoon,
I know what is printed under the sire pictures but what I am saying is that when some people look at it fast they think it is the horse for sale. Like first time buyers with no one to guide them . Buyers that want to get into the horse business. I still think it is deceptive. Why not post the picture of the mare to? You do pay to post a horse on Handride. They do a nice job keeping the pedigrees up dated. They also up date the PP's if you want them listed.
As Bluemoon says, Be careful.

Handride is a well organized site and I am glad they are trying to help new potential buyers out. This is nothing against Handride. This seller posts elsewhere also.

Bluemoon:
I did not mean to imply that HandRide was at fault in any way. They only post what the seller tells them to. I have had GREAT, GREAT success with the site. More people should try it, well worth the money.
