Questionable Pedigrees In Data Base

Postby Patuxet » Thu Mar 18, 2010 9:26 am

When one runs across what appears to be a questionable pedigree, what's the proper procedure for reporting it for correction? I don't see such an option offered.

My query is prompted by the discovery of "Land Halo", listed as a 1999 Argentinian son of Southern Halo out of Island Kitty x Hawaii. According to the database Island Kitty produced a Storm Cat filly named Restless Cat that same year.

Check the questionable pedigree at a free site such as this above.
Delete or amend the entry with correct data if your time and good nature allows.

In addition to what Diane said....in some cases, with foreign horses in particular, you may need to look a bit further afield. Equineline does not carry records for every country, and sometimes it's a case of a horse being attached to the wrong dam, rather than being a fake entry. In this case, a check of the Argentine Stud Book's site confirmed the horse does not exist.

You can always ask in the research forum if you aren't sure.

Also, if you do end up deleting a horse, please remember to delete any additional info first. It won't go away on its own if the pedigree is deleted.

Thanks! :)

There seems to be some kind of problem, perhaps related to indexing, after the maintenance closure last night.

For example, Sleeping Indian GB 2001 was just ~1998 instead, with a piccie and race details, and there was no pedigree at all.

I tried adding Sleeping Indian, and the Sadler's Wells in it doesn't have any parents.

Looked for Sadler's Wells later on, and there it the correct one, plus also Sadler's Wells ~1996.
