A disgrace? Really? I guess we didn't watch the same race. I saw RA get beaten by a short head in a G2. Yeah, rabid fans are tearing their hair out. Horseman are thinking, "maybe right now she's a step slower than last year but she's still a great filly."

Considering we have yet to run even the first race of the Triple Crown, you must be psychic to know that Zenyatta will win HOY "unopposed". Note to the Mosses: if you really want HOY in 2010, Z has to race outside of California. And one trip to the Apple Blossom won't do the trick--any more than it did last year.

Hi LB,
To me the race was a disgrace....that's my opinion and you are entitled to yours. Did you note she drifted into the first turn.....then she didn't switch leads in the lane till after the 1/8th pole. There is certainly something more going on here than just not being fit. TJ

Did Zenyatta deserve HOTY unbeaten as she still is and this cheap speed horse who didn't race in California, terrible thing to do race in CA winning G1 races and winning the Breeders Cup Classic?

If you can't see that now after 2 defeats against modest horses which shows what RA beat last year even more modest horses, well then yes if you do not agree you don't use (maybe a better way to put it) your brain.

Zens 2009 campaign did not beat Rachels 2009 campaign. I don't care if Zen races Rachel right now and hits the finish before Rachel even leaves the gate.

It is horse of the YEAR and Rachels 2009 year was much better than Zens 2009 year.

Actually, they were about equal. Both undefeated. Rachel beat the boys twice. Zenyatta made them look like cheap claimers, the way she simply powered through what were supposed to be the top males of the year.

Ideally, I would have liked for Queen Z to get the HOY, and then for both of them to have undefeated season leading up tio the Breeders Cup. Of course, the only reason why Zenyatta is still in training is because she didn't win HOY. God forbid there is a TC winner this year, or she'll be robbed again.

But for as much as I would like Rachel to succeed in 2010, her tailing off certainly exhibits why Zenyatta should have been HOY. And I just wish that ONE media person who voted for Rachel would blog that he'd made a mistake. Just ONE.

Why do people have such a hard time understanding that 2009 is 2009, and 2010 will be 2010 when its done? Are people just inherently stupid about this?

Well, duh, shucks, Ah guess Ah thought y'all might get ma point that in 2009, Zenyatta being undefeated might have meant she WAS the better horse IN 2009.

I am truly disappointed Rachel got beat today. But it only confirms what I previously said. And that is; Rachel Alexandra was managed very nicely last year and ran the table winning marque races against inferior company.

My gut tells me Jess Jackson is going to retire her. He doesn't have the testicles to face another defeat and he sure as hell knows she will never warm up Zenyatta...

And per Dr. Roman, Rachel got her highest PF at the distance in her career, therefore not such a bad race. I just think that the jockey rode her badly. She will have better races in the future.

Now it is the Jockey's fault that RA loses? Nice. Next we can go through horse shoes, fly spray, and wind velocity as likely excuses. Everything except she is just a regular horse with some talent, just like she was last year when she was incorrectly named HOY.

Hi G,
Hope you're right about that, those PF's are pretty good indicators. Still, I'm afraid somthing isn't right with her.....I sure hope I'm dead wrong about that and would be happy to eat my words TJ

Hi G,
You are right about that....but right now Z is the odds on choice. The Asmussen camp is still saying RA isn't fit....she drifted into the first turn, then never switched leads till right before the wire....Jackson says she needs two or 3 more races till she is ready and that she will not be retired. Personally I think he's drinking his bath water:>) TJ

Oh my God, Jackson must be drinking too much of his own wine. THAT'S the excuse for this defeat now? While the Great Zenyatta keeps on winning, keeps on excercising, keeps on keeping on?

Why make excuses? RA is just not as good as Zenyatta is Great, and our "blinkers" are sure off when we watch the greatest horse to grace our tracks since Secretariat and Ruffian.

Why don't you hear Sheriff's or the Moss's saying Zenyatta needs 2 or 3 more races to win? Not to mention she is 2 years older than RA?! RA's people are really looking silly by making these dumb excuses. What is she even doing in the race if "she isn't fit yet"? Come on now.

Zenyatta is the greatest race horse in the world, she proved that in the Breeders Cup. The Breeders Cup that we saw no sight of RA.

LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!!
We will NEVER see another Ruffian......

J.J. is wearing blinkers. Period. I am half tempted to think that he paid people for their votes. The way he always wants to be in the spotlight all the time.
R.A is not any type of Horse of the Year in any year. If Zenyatta and Rachel ever meet up Zenyatta would crush her.
