today in the 7th at Arlington, he had claimed the 7 horse for 62k the previous race, turns around and in the next race wins a 100k stakes race.. pretty easily.
that is a very good trainer.

I'm thinkin.. that's not a huge accomplishment. Congrats and all but on that circuit claiming for 62k is likely specifically for a stake like todays. It is a fairly common move BDW. One I would have thought you would have noticed. It wasn't long ago that it was a very common move in N Cal. A horse like Yougottawanna is an example of that.

He has done this before. Sanburr fits the same bill. Gran Estreno is another that is similar. These are the ones that standout. What is not as evidemt is that there are also a lot of numbers behind the scene that you don't see. For everyone of these successes that are out there, there are a lot that are ruined. Your observation that he has, on occasion, done this is accurate. I wouldn't expand that thought to any other conclusions though.
Regardless of what he did on Saturday, Mike Stidham IS a good trainer and a good guy!
And very few trainers ever claim one and win a hundred grander. I don't care what circuit..
Yougottawana was in and out of Graded stakes races and optional claimers. Was claimed for 80k then won the Alamedan @ P-Town. This horse in no way had Yougottawana's PP's. It was a heck of a claim and and a tremendous win..
