Homozygous black...
I just wanted to say that I'm about 98% sure Street Sense is homozygous black. COOL!!

It only means that he can't produce chestnut. He can certainly produce bays, browns & blacks.

Just love the confusion when someones says a horse if a true breeding black.
Are they talking about basecoat? Or Agouti?
A horse can be true breeding black EE, will never have a red foal, or aa, black based E, maybe e (red base coat) but recessive for Agouti, showing the black coat color.
In both case the statement can be true, just depends on what is being described.
Also what's the current thinking about Agouti itself?

It's (in order of dominance):
A+ - Wild Bay
A - Bay
At - Brown
a - Black
An 'A At' would be bay visually. An 'At a' or 'At At' would be brown. Street Sense is 'At_" imo, so if he is not carrying an 'a' he is homozygous brown.
