GSB Question

Postby vineyridge » Thu Nov 11, 2010 8:50 am

What criteria did Mr. Weatherby use to decide which horses he was going to put in the GSB? Did he only include horse with racing results in GB/Ire. from their descendants? And did he incorporate Peck's in toto? Would there have been lines that had died out in GB before 1781 that he didn't include?

Obviously the reason that I'm asking is not only because of the Harpham Turk and his ancestors, but also if the horse was exported before the GSB began, then it or its descendants wouldn't be in. That's where the outlying female families originate, but what about sires?

Vineyridge,

You need to get yourself a copy of Tony Morris & Matthew Binns latest book. It gives you the history of how the GSB came together and also puts to bed a lot of bad theories etc that prevail even to this day.
