I've never heard her discussed, yet she seems to have a powerhouse of progeny, who have earned much and with many sons at stud. Since she is by a little known sire, relatively speaking, where do you experts think this comes from?

She's certainly an Ohio bred... look at those names! A true regional mare.

I suspect her success has come from the sprinter type stallions she has been bred to. Her foals clearly benefit from the speed of Unbridled Song, (rats, I closed the page and can't see the other speed sires)

Now, I know she and her stud sons are not exactly national superstars...but the consistency of "pretty good" quality does seem to point to something in her genetics. You really think it's just the studs she was bred to?

Took a quick look and thought I had something- probably not.

Get back to the fourth before finding some of the usual suspects, except for the dam line of both sire and dam, which appear to be unremarkable, at least in terms of the horses. Don't know a thing about their race records or produce. But, Amalka is quite line-bred to Domino, who was very line-bred or, I think, inbred himself.

But the dam's mare line, from Flight, only carries two crosses of Domino. However, that line does go to the Fair Play mare, ETOILE FILANTE.

Was going to speculate on all that Domino in the back meeting up with sprint stallions now, but people pooh-pooh anything beyond the fourth, generally.

She looks to me to have been a fast filly out of a family of fast horses, and had some good planning and good luck on her side.

Her first foal is by Carson City--born in 1995, sired in 1994. Carson City went to stud in 1991, so Roll Over Baby was bred on the bubble year (and probably a low-ish fee). Turns out he was a pretty good sire and looks like he gave her a good boost. That first foal ran out enough money--and her later foal by Brocco ran fast enough as a 2yo--to get her sold for a million dollars and sent to better and better stallions.

So, no, I don't think it was all the stallions, but she has definitely done better with the better stallions.

Interesting that her sons have performed considerably better on the track than her daughters have.
