Sun King yearlings?
I was poking around to see how Charismatic's been doing and I realized that his most successful progeny, Sun King, has yearlings this year. I presume some are going through sales. Has anybody here seen his babies on a farm, have a baby themselves, or is aware of one going to a sale? I hope they look great. It would be nice for Charismatic to still have representation here given how little time they gave him before he got shipped to Japan.

lol, ok we need to go over the concept of being lazy again.
In all seriousness, I didn't think of Facebook for some reason. I'll give that a shot. I generally don't like to bother farms by email if I can avoid it, partly because it's not like I have a mare or anything and I feel like I'm stringing them along (even if they're fine with it and are nice enough to humor me), plus they're gonna want to spin it positively. Not accusing them of lying, but if someone needs to say 'they look terrible' it's gonna be one of you, not Darby Dan.

Actually I thought of just saying to call them and ask but figure they might just refer you to their pages anyway.
I used to do a lot of programming and we are the laziest people, we will take every shortcut we can..... my comment was not meant as a "don't be lazy"
DD was very up front with me about the horses when I was picking one last year and when I was there and saw Nobiz I specifically asked them to show me what "offset" was and they did.

I really like this guy. if he had a different trainer he'd be a grade 1 winner and has a sneaky good female family. just that damn charamastic scaring people off. dont' think he will be a superstar or anything but i think he will be really solid.

As a fan of Charismatic (and Summer Squall) the better Sun King does, the happier I'll be. I was upset when we lost his sire to Japan, so having Sun King become at least moderately successful would be great. I enjoyed him as a racehorse, and I agree, he could've gotten a G1. It's a shame he didn't. I think it would've really helped in terms of how he was viewed.

He's standing for $10,000 now, I'm not sure what he stood for in 2009, but given the low sales average for colts and fillies, I assume most didn't earn their stud fee back in the ring. Were there any outliers? If his offspring do well on the track next year, that's great, but it can't bode well that they sell so badly. I feel like someone's gonna swoop in and buy him, then ship him overseas.

I was also interested in how horses were selling at the Keeneland sale that just ended, so I crunched some numbers and compared the published 2009 stud fee for sires of weanlings to sale price, and did the same with 2010 fees and in-foal broodmares. It wasn't pretty.
