So...I broke the news to hubby today that we have a new mare

Postby TrueColours » Sat Dec 18, 2010 10:29 am

And I could have hugged him! :)

He said since he still has time off work owing to him, do I want him to go and get her instead of me juggling it and trying to look after the horses at home?!

Now - you have to know that hubby is VERY non horsey. I mean not in any way shape or form does he have anything to do with them unless asked, or maintenance kinds of things, so instead of getting royally ticked off that I went and bought another mare, he offered to go and get her instead so it didnt impact my day at all

I dont know how many photo's I will be able to post of her until spring gets here and she actually sheds her coat out. Right now she will simply look "dirty white" and thats it. And very very fluffy ...

She was bought 100% specifically to breed to Guaranteed Gold to carry on the tradition started with Puchi Trap and I am crossing my fingers that with very much the same bloodlines to work with, I will be able to replicate the types and looks of foals that Puchi Trap produces for me ...

I saw her many many years ago and really liked what I saw of her then and this if the ONLY picture that I actually have of her and of course you cannot tell anything from it other than her colour / markings and thats it

Her name is Puchi Doll - she is out of Batawa Lady and by Puchilingui himself and is dual registered with both the Jockey Club and APHA - the same as Puchi Trap is.

I am curious what colour pattern you all think she might be? Obviously bay, but with that almost all white face and what appears to be a completely white tail - Dominant White??? Splash??? Or can you have a combination of both of those patterns?

And I am really curious about her actual colour. I have NEVER seen a bay this light, unless she has a whack of white hairs through her base coat colour making it look very very light and washed out looking. And then what appears to be a bunch of Bend Or type spots??? But Ive never seen them on a bay coat - only chestnut!

She is definately very different looking and I will really look forward to seeing what she produces with GG!

With the passing of Jerry Tyler, his family called and said that Jerry would very much have wanted me to have this mare as she was very special to him. I am really honored to be getting her ...

The paperwork has been sent in but with Christmas and then New Year's Im sure there will be some delay but I would anticipate getting her here sometime in mid January - depending on weather and driving conditions as well

Jerry's daughter is also looking to see if there are some summer pictures of her that she can send me as well. If so - I will post them once I get them

So - curious what you all think of her colouring and markings?!

She's walking in that photo.

She's dominant white. It can mimic splash quite well. Since Sato is suspected of having it and Sinatra's Reply may be homozygous it's POSSIBLE Puchilingui had it, but maybe not.

The lightness of her coat is owing to the roaning caused by the DW.

The spots are sorta Bend Or's and sorta blood marks. They're spots showing her true base color where the white was not allowed to affect for some reason.

One thing I like about horses is that you never know everything. I've never been around a horse that did a "running walk", which this mare is clearly doing. 8) None of my horses ever did this.

All of mine have and NONE of them have been gaited (or paced for that matter).  I can show you hundreds of photos of hundreds of horses that do not pace doing this very thing... a walk.

Identical photo angle and leg position:

My own mare, who is absolutely NOT a pacer in ANY shape or form.

I used to take hundreds of photos of horses every year. I honestly never saw anything like this. (Thoroughbreds and racebred Arabians)

Cool! I might have the world's first pacing Thoroughbred then if Bast is correct!!!

Lace looks FABULOUS ACC in her "riding" days! How many more "sleeps" now til foaling?

For those that havent seen this mare's sire - Puchilingui - here he is:

They share a LOT of the same markings / colouring characteristics:

Image

So they do share a lot of the same marking characteristics - he is just a much deeper bay colour than she is - her colouring is much more muted and softer...

And ACC - what you said about the Bend Or / blood mark spots makes a lot of sense - thank you!

PUCHI DOLL -- pedigree: http://www.pedigreequery.com/puchi+doll

I always like to post the pedigree of any subject horse for the sake of analysis and pleasant surprises. This mare is no exception; glad to know that the influence of one of Mahmoud's most durable runners is there. I am referring to her 3rd broodmare sire the mighty, OIL CAPITOL (1947),
