Last year's Preakness publicity was bad. This may be tackier.

I saw the film Idiocarcy last night, really good.

Its set 500 years in the future when everyone is really dumb - they could have set it in the present only it might have offended too many as people usually don't like being told they are stupid.

This advertising it tacky and dumb, its not the type of crowd that should be at a racetrack, unless they are doing labotomies and neuterings.

Heard a teaser about this on NPR this morning. Hey, if it gets people to talk about horse racing, is it all bad?

The public already believes that racing is about flogging dumb animals to race to their deaths on drugs. Must they also believe that the fans are drunken barbarians?

Whatever graphic designer that created that horrible photoshop atrocity needs to be knocked in the head. What really scares me is that an advertising company/marketing firm approved it pitch to a client, any client at all. And even more terrifying is that the race track folks liked the graphic and bought it.

No wonder the race industry is f*cked. Jesus.

Next year, Pimlico needs to go to a nearby college/university to make their campaign class projects/competitions for the marketing and graphic design programs. I guarantee they'll end up with a far better product, probably a very very good quality, and for basically free. And since the college hipster/ young professional demographic is the track's target demographic, who better to tap for promo ideas.

It is all too real. I found the original image on a Baltimore news site several days ago, well before 1 April.

WOW
Way to trash one of the classiest races in history. There is no honouring traditions anymore I guess.

I watched a couple videos on youtube of drunken fans running onto the track during a race...guess there will be a few more to add after this!

Have you ever been to Preakness?

It's all of Baltimore giving New Orleans a great big middle finger as they show them how to party. Been that way since at least 1990.
