Irish SW son of Marju available

Postby springboro » Mon Jun 06, 2011 2:09 pm

a bit overpriced, in my opinion

looks like he did his best running at 2 in England, although he is a group 2 winner at 3 in Germany. Immediate family of champions SULAMANI and DREAM WELL and G1 winners METAMORPHOSE and TUZLA.

I see Marju had some good runners... what's the general opinion? I see Northern Dancer twice already, which limits his versatility with many mares in the USA.

did find this about Marju... he's a G1 miler and a 1/2 to the great Salsibil!

from http://www.stallions.com.au/news/2010/0 ... ord-speed/:

The sons of Last Tycoon have met with rather mixed success at stud, and he certainly can’t be called a true sire of sires. His best European stallion son, Marju, has been a good and consistent stallion without ever becoming tremendously commercial. He has 48 stakes winners to his credit, including French Oaks-Gr.1 heroine Sil Sila; the brilliant Soviet Song, a five-time Gr.1 winner at a mile; My Emma, who took the Yorkshire Oaks-Gr.1; Marbye, successful in the Prix d’Astarte-Gr.1; Australasian Oaks-Gr.1 victress Marju Snip; and Hong Kong Gr.1 winners Viva Pataca and Indigenous. If he is going to extend the male line in Europe, however, it will be probably be through the minor Italian stakes winner Martino Alonso, whose son, Ramonti (inbred to the brothers Try My Best and El Gran Senor), won five Gr.1 races, and is now at stud in Ireland under the Darley banner.

A top sprinter, who bled...

Stormont grabbed the lead more than two furlongs from the wire and went on to register a course-record score in Germany's most prestigious sprint race, the Fahrhof Goldene Peitsche (Ger-II) at Baden-Baden Wednesday.

There's a couple of his claiming races at S.A. (Feb 2008) & Hollywood (Dec 07) on Cal Racing for anyone interested. By then, he was at the end of his racing career.

He's an attractive looking stallion.
