Moderators: Please stop Louis' "Inbreeding and Unsoundness" thread on the Racing Board. Although, Louis has the right to post information, factual or not, he continues to assert that the information he is posting is research. After over five years of this thread, it is apparent that it is not. He has consistently stepped beyond ethical standards of conduct by copying information from other sources, withholding names of and links to resources, naming individuals and enterprises connected with tragically injured or dead horses unrelated to the topic of the thread and without their permission, and most importantly, he has used this thread as a publishing tool to inflate his own reputation at the expense and detriment of the good reputation of this website and its members.
It is my opinion that Louis' thread is detrimental to this website as his poor conduct and unethical representations of his knowledge and expertise do a great deal to detract from the mission of this board which is to provide a healthy and intelligent forum for individuals to discuss various topics of interest involving the TB and horseracing.
Louis' thread has never been available for an itelligent discussion to resolve issues with posts and clearly is used as a selfish act on his part.
I've encouraged other members to either PM (if they wish to remain anonymous) you all or post a "Yes" to stop or "NO" not to stop in following posts to this thread.

The whole nasty thing should be deleted, in my opinion. There is an incredible proliferation of ignorance running through the entire thread.
But here's another slant. The thing is massive, running into hundreds of pages, and has survived for FIVE YEARS!!! It is possible that Louis doesn't actually exist, or has been "hijacked" as a personality; somewhere there is a bunch of folks who have met the real Louis have taken his persona here as a screen name, and are posting just the basest, most ignorant sh** they can think of just to get us all to respond. They then get absolutely rolling on the floor laughing at all of the chumps silly enough to waste their time.
Here's the point. To make the thread go away, just Stop Reading, and Stop Responding. Period. Everyone. Then you will have your consensus.

So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....
The thread is simply one mans theory. If it bothers you, ignore it. Those that post have taken it from a few hundred pages to over 600. It should be in the Pedigree Analysis section, and not Racing... but that's it. Texas Thoroughbred Forum is 160 pages+. Should that come down? Let the man post.
In a hundred years they might look at the archives and say "That guy had it 100% correct". The might say "What a lunatic". What's it matter?

Zinn21: There was a second sentence in Pan Zareta's post.
The key words here are "completely unsubstantiated defamatory claims, ie. slander, about living, breeding, TB's."
I know that there are many of you who haven't visited Louis' inbreeding thread, but there are some ethical and moral conduct concerns with Louis' posts. If you have not visited the thread, either visit it and make your own conclusions or communicate with those who have to insure that you understand our concerns. Some of the information that Louis' is posting publically is not only unreliable, anecdotal, and often exaggerated, but it is disparaging to owners and breeders who have no connection with this board and our not aware of what he is posting about them in regards to their horses and their connections. When Louis' posts his information, which is very selective to meet his own thinking, he not only names the horse that has broken down or died on the track but he includes the names of the breeders and current owners and includes his own anecdotal comments as to why the horses pedigree is to blame.
Louis has the right to his opinions, but he does not have the right to publically disparaged and defame the connections and breeders of tragically injured horses he has determined to be unsound (after the fact) as a result of pedigree and breeding programs and issues that he disagrees with.
Lastly, Louis has no professional or educational experience to support his claims which makes his posts even more of a concern. As his thread is located on the RACING BOARD, the most visited on this website, he has a large audience some of whom are novices or other more experienced individuals who are just interested in the racing information related to the sport and the TB and don't have background in pedigrees or genetics. As has been said before on this particular thread by one of the moderators, there is a great deal of misinformation being provided on Louis' thread.
Although I prefer that the thread be stopped and locked, I can live with the thread being moved to the Pedigree Analysis Board. We have many members who are well verse in TB pedigrees and genetics and at the very least, Louis' posts will get the scrutiny and responses they deserve.
If you go over the initial pages of Louis' thread you will find that even back then members had concerns about where Louis' was taking this thread. You will also note, as I have, that many of those individuals no longer participate on this website.
Louis claims he is pedigree researcher so if you don't want to stifle his free speech by locking his inbreeding thread, move it to its most appropriate forum: Pedigree Analysis. I'm sure he will certainly get the attention he thinks his "theory" deserves there.
. . . But when they're expressed as completely unsubstantiated defamatory claims, i.e. slander, about living, breeding, TBs is it wise to allow them to remain posted in a public forum?

I would be mad as hell if he posted the name of one of my horses as part of one of his Croaked Horse of the Day posts with my name there as well.
He has no idea of the details of these breakdowns. He even blames death by pneumonia on inbreeding to Phalaris.

This. It's not so much the crackpot ideas but the morbid redboarding that irritates me. Real people are associated with these horses after all.
But madelyn has a point too. If he stops getting attention, he may stop altogether. If he doesn't stop, no one is holding a gun to our collectives heads and forcing us to read it.

People do wander into that thread who believe Louis.
There is a mindset that craves Doom and Certain Disaster, and Louis' claim of Phalaris causing the downfall of the TB appeals to them.
Typically they cannot sort information rationally for themselves, and when they find out that 90 % of catastrophic breakdowns are found among Phalaris-line horses, they are convinced. Someone has to tell them that 90 % of TBs today are Phalaris line horses, and one would expect such a representation.

This also drives me crazy. The few times I have objected to a Louis pronouncement were when his examples were extremely offensive to me personally. He frankly has no right to throw out his "death by Phalaris" examples and drag a small owner down with him. Louis has no idea who these owners are, or what they are feeling. If he ever posted one of mine on his death list I would take him to court. He has no idea what he is doing. The first time he posted his stupid "death by pneumonia caused by Phalaris", I had just lost a 2 year old to pneumonia. And I was devastated. And I wanted to rip Louis' eyeballs out, and other body parts, for suggesting such a thing.
I think Louis is sick. And I just don't understand how the libelous things he says here can continue. I would have stopped reading his posts long ago because he always made me so angry, but I was always fearful that I might recognize another poor owner that he has slandered, and I wanted to be poised to attack back, not that it ever does any good.
He rightfully should be sued. He should be stopped.
