Best bang for your buck?

Was hoping to get some opinions on what stallion (Kentucky preferably)priced at $15K or less could give you a decent return at the yearling sales. In other words, a good choice for a mare with a really nice page, but a breeder with a modest pocketbook for a stud fee.

Personally, I like to catch a horse on the "rise" as opposed to a decline in fee. The one who is starting to sell better and has much better mares on the way is Flatter.

Flatter I agree with. I also like Majestic Warrior and Divine Park as unprovens. But for proven I would say Flatter and Successful Appeal.

Agree on Flatter, will be interesting to see what they raise his stud fee to. He'll probably have a sizable book in 2012.

15k or less is a very modest budget to look at making a commercial return. Not saying it cannot be done but I wouldnt look at getting a huge return. My advice would be to be prepared to race whatever you get because stallions with 2x the stud fee are selling cheaper these days. So buyers can hold out to get what they want.

Flatter is 15k. If you want to use him I suggest nominating your mare NOW.

Wow, $15K, they doubled his fee. Guess it wasn't a hard decision after Flat Out's win this weekend.

Bernie Sams of Claiborne stated they are committed to "capping the number of mares" to each stallion. Anybody know what Claiborne's cap is?

If he's still standing next year, Quiet American might work.

City Zip is amazing bang for the buck but not that commercial, which is bizarre given his accomplishments. Don't know if LE will hold his fee at $15000 but it's worth a try.

Hat Trick is one to watch. He has the likely juvenile champion in France, Dabirsim, and it looks like some of the sales buyers have taken notice. This horse was FAST, too...fast enough to beat none other than Bullish Luck on his home turf, to beat Dance in the Mood, Daiwa Major, and Durandal.

Not a KY stallion but take a look at Not For Love in Maryland. A Mr. P son o/o a ND daughter who is o/o the Buckpasser daughter Numbered Account. .

You are from PA and that would give you a Maryland Sired foal eligible for the maryland Millions plus a PABRED which advertises a 35% breeder's bonus and a 40% owners bonus. However, the State found that PABRED money and I'm racing a PABRED in a MSW @ PARX this Sunday with out any Owner's bonus. Don't know about the 35% Breeder's bonus.

NFL is about as commercial l as you can get in the Mid-Atlantic but a lot depends on your mare; also on the size and conformation of your foal. NFL is getting a little long in the tooth but that could turn into a sales advantage if he is no longer available when you are ready to sell your foal.

Smarty Jones might be another stallion that I believe Northview is standing in PA. if so, you loose the MDSIRED perks but still have the PABRED as long as you follow the rules.
