Hold Me Back?

Postby Joltman » Sun Mar 11, 2012 5:55 pm

Any love out there for this guy?

I watched his Derby race. Made a bold move up the rail in the slop then checked. Was a serious factor. There will be some great sons of Giants Causeway, but don't know if he's one of them.

He's getting some terrific, leggy, strong flashy foals with great substance.

I know of 3 and each one has been a blinged out chestnut, each of these out of dark plain bay mares. On coloring alone, there seems to be a lot of Giant's Causeway coming out in them, interesting since I think he favors the Unbridled's Song side of his pedigree, physically.

I have a mare in foal to him who is overdue. Hopefully I will can report on the foal within a few days.

I will say that Hold Me Back is a much better looking horse than his Stallion Register photo indicates. Much stronger quarters and shoulder. I dont normally breed to deep closers but took a chance on this guy when Winstar offered it's free breeding right program for him.

I saw him last fall and while he had just come in, he had a lot of presence and substance. The GCs will be a source of stamina and I think he got his dose. Both his Derby and Travers efforts at a mile and a quarter were in the slop, hardly ideal for closers. (Desormeaux rushed him up the rail way too early in the Derby imho)

Hope your foaling goes well Barc. Keep us posted

My mare foaled a very leggy colt by him last week. A bit knock-kneed for a few days but has vastly improved in the last two days. Color and markings mirror his sire. Nice colt.

You're stretching the bounds of my computer savviness, Madelyn. I'm still pondering how to send a text message.

Thanks. Fortunately my horse knowledge exceeds my gadget knowledge.
