This article has some interesting history about the foundations of racing going back to Eclipse as well as recent successes and challenges to Queen Elizabeth's racing enedeavors.

Of note:

"Neither does she have the same financial resources available to many of her chief competitors."


DUH - how many of you guys out there would like to exchange with her bank accounts, lands, etc?

In terms of her breeding operation I think the more pertinent part was the following line

"political constraints placed upon her stallion choices, preventing her using some of the best bloodlines abroad"

Rather than her inability to stump up the covering fees.
"Best Mate is a Villa fan"
