Sylvie,

Good for you, I'd think she'd be easy to find a home for, if she were here in Calif. Your phone would be ringing off the hook.

Just got myself a new quarter mare last week, CTC Sugar Olena, cute little Doc O'Lena over Sugar Bars mare, she's so cute I couldn't help myself. She's surprisingly lightning fast, could probably produce a real runner, that Ariel back in the pedigree.

Just did a little research: she produced 4 race winners one stakes placed and one multiple stakes winner mare that produced too.she is also full sister to a producing Oklahoma stallion,3/4 sister to a graded stakes winner and stakes producer and 1/2 to another stakes horse and 1/2 to quite a few other nice winners and producers. Her dam then was a very good producing broodmare as her second dam too.She had her last live foal in 2009 and has been on Patrick farm since 2010 season. The vet said she is sound for breeding but if she does not leave in the next couple weeks I will have a good broodmare specialist look at her and make sure she is clean. Her price will be adjusted with the expenses or she will simply stay here. She is not that old and so far eat everything in sight and seems happy.Anyone can tell me how to post picture?

the second picture is from last week when my friend picked her up. I believe she should be used in an embryo transfert program.Being on what we call a rebound in the spring she should have plently of good eggs that could be harvested.

well believe it or not she is in foal,4 months app per the ultrasound.will get her abortion today, she is in no shape to carry a foal. But at least we know she is really fertile...and the vet who was taking care of that farm up north is an idiot.

You'r a Saint to have given her a home Sylvie. If my next foal is a filly, I'm gonna name her Saint Sylvie.

I am no saint,I believe she has stellar pedigree, was an excellent producer,as well as her dam and second dam and her own daughter is a producer too....So I think a smart breeder should harvest as many eggs from her to cross to very good stallions. Not many like that around, and as you already know I am against breeding low quality horses. It cost a lot and there is no home for them anyway. Why take expensive and useless chances when you can bet on almost sure?Horse industry is in trouble,we have too many useless horses, and too many "dreamers"with average or even worst mares bred to medium or even very good studs producing horses I see ending up badly after being loosers anyway..
Many years ago in the 80's I had 3-4 studs and close to 30 mares,a few nice ones but a lot of average or worst ones.I was spending a fortune and not going anywhere...I realised that may be just a couple of excellent mares with the best studs I can find for them and the best care and raising them properly was more profitable $ and more satisfying. This mare is a top broodmare, stellar pedigree and good producer ,she is also a very well made mare even if in terrible shape, and only 18 yo still fertile,no major problems...A true broodmare for the serious breeder.AQHA allows embryo transfer, let's not loose the best ones.

Sylvie,
Looking at ber knees, looks like she ended up in a bad way irregardless of her pedigree, and I still think you are a saint for taking her. I agree with you, best just.breed the good ones, the only one I'v got in foal is 1/2 to multiple stakes horses.

A.I. and egg harvesting and recipient mares, all very very.spendy. I'V got an idea, how about we get enough of us on the board go in and pool our resoirces and get her eggs harvested, and then breed to a AAA horse and get a yearling to sell at the Los Al sale?
