Do you really have to ask that question when you can get to his sire Forestry for $8,000.

Anyone breeding to Shackleford at that price needs either their money taken off them or the sanity questioned or maybe both.

So, your thoughts are, Dublino, are that at $20,000 he is not as good of a deal as his sire at $8,000.

Noted.

I concur with the leprechaun. Forestry is the much safer bet. I was speaking to Taylor Made today about another of their stallions and when the subject of Forestry came up I was told that their goal in lowering the stud fee is to book a large number of mares, which the horse hasnt been doing for a few years. Shackleford is something of a choker, too, so at only 40% of his fee I would much prefer the proven commodity.

A more reasonable stud fee for Shackleford, given that he is a classics winner, would be in the $12,500 range, IMO.

$10,000 for Jersey Town by Speightstown of of a 3 time G1 winning mare.
Jersey Town beat Shackleford in G2 Kelso.

Shackleford beat Jersey Town in the BC Dirt Mile last year when Shack ran second to Calebs Posse.

So racing wise they were much as a muchness.
Then Factor in Jersey Town is out of a 3 time G1 winner - as I said stupid fee for Shackleford.

I'm not justifying the fee, but Oatsee has produce Alabama winner Lady Joanne, and graded SW Baghdaria and Afleeting Lady.
