Normady Invasion

Postby bdw0617 » Sat Nov 24, 2012 12:56 pm

I usually think the Remsen is a very overrated race; all the good hoses on the east coast are done for the year. And the year i like a horse out of this race, it isn't even the winner (i dont' think)

this horse is the real deal IMHO. wow i was impressed with his turn of foot. he was just getting started at 9F.

That was special and fun to watch. Tapits were rocking today. As for the track record, Commentator left some pretty big tracks to fill and Normandy made it look easy.

I can't stand how speed biased Gulfstream has become.
Yesterday was brutal.

Normandy Invasion was impressive, I agree, but I can't stand how the track is playing.

I agree Cree,

It's why in general (in general), I discount pretty much everything that comes out of Gulfstream Park in the winter when they move on to the derby and when the older horses move on to other parts of the country to run. Its all fake and is pointless. Supped up speed numbers, that look good on PP's that look good when it's time to retire your 3YO and say he was the fastest horse in his generation lol, not so good when competing against other horses from other parts of the country that were running on fairer tracks.

I get burned from time to time. Union Rags burned me 2 years ago. I liked Orb, becuase he ran against the bias and still won. But usually I save alot of money and makes my handicapping much easier.

A good example of this is...Normandy Invasion breaking Commentator's record yesterday.
Sorry Normandy Invasion, but you couldn't kiss Commentator's heels!!!

Its about the same.. its not even other years its 2 months ago. Towards the end of the meet starting around the Donn or so the track stars to become a speedway and speed carries way more than it should. the track is rock hard and it's lighting fast. I remember the year Dunkirk and quality road went toe to toe they ran something like 1:46 9F and everyone was hollering about how great dunkirk was when in reality the track was sooped up. I lost a grand on dunkirk in the derby becuase of that :(. I didn't think he could lose if he ran anywhere close to those numbers.

I also think that track is the reason QR got scratched out of the derby I think the track caused the quarter crack

Hi bdw,
Over the last 10 years, 7 Derby's were won by horses who raced or trained at Gulfstream Park, Palm Meadows or Payson Park. The key is to make sure they raced as 2YO's if you are considering them to win the Derby. As you learned with Dunkirk and I learned with Verrazano:>)
Concerning Normandy Invasion....he didn't go to the front, he came from off the pace, so track bias didn't have anything to do with it. He ran a super race and finished in another zip code. The only hitch is the time was adjusted....why the change, no one has said? Here's the race and the time shown on the tele-timer was 1:34.78. It was later adjusted to the track record 1:33.13? TJ
