What is going to happen to Charismatic?

Postby erhrdt3 » Fri Dec 14, 2012 10:45 am

I read online that another one of our champions that was shipped over to Japan, Charasmatic, has not been doing well over there as a stallion and was shipped to a lower breeding farm. There is even a video that I can't even talk about because it made me so sick that shows what happens to horses like these.

Does anyone know if he has paperwork to come back to the USA in the event of not doing well over there?!!!

When are the USA breeders going to stop sending horses over there only for them to be hung up by their back legs and slaughtered? Like poor Ferdinand and Exceller? God, I am so damned mad. What the hell is WRONG with people that do that? Make millions off of a champion and then send them off to mainly Japan and other countries and hope they can reproduce themselves or they are killed???!!!

This might be old news to some of you, but I just was checking up on some of our friends from the past. His pedinq. did not say he has been brought back, and the video said War Emblem is in trouble too. Great.

I don't know how Australia is, but I see another one of our KY Derby winners, Animal Kingdom is going over there. This is an ugly sport when you really get down and look at it. Sure, its fun to watch Zenyatta and her sister, etc. but the others that don't win, not their fault, they are running their hearts out, they get killed for it.

I'm sorry friends, for posting this, but am worried about them.

Didn't Charismatic run for Bob and Beverly Lewis? I should think, having earned them millions, one would think he has earned a retirement pasture somewhere, cared for by his original owners.

No, not at all! Yes, they did own him, but he is in jeopardy. He was bought by the Shadai (sp?) stallion station, and now he's been sold to some crappy place over there, described as the last place they have a chance or go to to try to become a good sire. His fee over there is only five thousand dollars.

I am not a member of PETA, however if you look up the Shadai stallion station, google through the first couple pages and it says something like, is this what War Emblem and Charasmatic's end will be? Then they show a lovely big dark colored TB being killed. I cried.

Today I cried alot, not only did I find that, but also some nutjob killed 20 innocent children and some staff at that CT elementary school. It should be Friday the 13th.

Wish I could get in touch with Madeline Pickens....

I believe both War Emblem and Charismatic are on contracts which send them back here for retirement. I'd have to google old articles to be certain but that sticks in my mind. The farm where War Emblem stands has bent over backwards to accommodate his finicky traits to an extent most American farms would not have done and he has been successful in terms of the quality of the few foals he has.

Article I read on Animal Kingdom has him going to stand at a premier Australian stud farm where Danehill stood and the intent is to also stand in the US. Team Valor is retaining significant ownership. I think he will be well protected. This was read on Bloodhorse.com

Is this the article you read? Not sure if you noticed but it is from 2009 and is not recent.

You mean the "lower breeding farm" that also stands Empire Maker and Johannesburg?

These facilities look pretty awful

There was so much negative fallout over the fate of Ferdinand that I would be shocked to see history repeat with the American bred stallions standing in Japan now. All other things considered, it would be bad business indeed to alienate potential sellers in the U.S., no matter what the cultural norms are in Japan for horses who have come to the end of their perceived usefulness.

As for Animal Kingdom, he'll be living the good life in Australia. No concerns about him at all.

What article did you read, erhrdt3? It would be helpful to have the link if you read it online.

Hi Sue, I'm trying to get the link to stay so I can put on here but my computer (per the computer shop) is on its last legs and certain systems and normal things it should do, its not doing.

I looked up the Shadai stallion station, and I scrolled down and saw the name
Charasmatic. I'll keep trying, but there was a video (which could be my problem, transferring the video) showing him in the winter in a dirty ole blanket and they had some guy showing the x ray with the screws in his leg, that was done here, if my memory serves me right??

Now, I know we all have our opinions on PETA. Sometimes they do great. Other times they can do stupid things. If you Google the Shadai stallion station, there's a horrible link that shows hidden camera footage of a very beautiful young TB meeting his terrible end.(It was not at the farm it was one in Japan) I cried, and cried more. They were wetting him down first and you could tell he knew something was going to go on. It's just unnecessary.
There just needs to be more responsibility for the people who bring these animals into the world.

Don't know if this will work or not. You can also "google" Charasmatic horse slaughter.

It is pretty obvious that you are referring to 2009 articles, or those whose basis is 2009.

You can also try the below link from July 2011. Again, a quick "Google" of Charasmatic Horse Slaughter would have given you all the info you wanted to know and saved you tears.

Not sure there is anything more recent. I only spent about 2 minutes on my research. Just think... 2 minutes could have saved a lot of emotional distress and tears. Perhaps it would have been worth it.

It's basically the Ferdinand clause if i am not mistaken... if a horse does not preform they are required to send the horse back to the states upon retirement. they cannot send the horse to slaughter.

Here's a story about a Ibn Bey, a stallion in Japan who recently died at age 28. He was pensioned from stud duty in 2007, so clearly did not end up on a dinner plate when he was no longer useful for breeding. Maybe that will be of some reassurance?

All members of PETA should protest !!!!
BOYCOTT all forms of cat and dog food.
(when the cat starves to death that is your problem)
So, Amercans care more for failed breeding horses than murdered 6yr old school children? sick

If that was meant as a smart ass remark, it did not work.

As everyone else is, I am SICK about what happened to those sweet little babies that were gunned down on Friday. Everytime they show the photos of their beautiful faces, I just want to cry.

The topic we were talking about before that happened was what someone kindly put on here, think it was called the Ferdinand clause. This is a horse racing forum so that's why we were discussing it. I thank everyone who gives the information on all topics on here. It is much appreciated. :)
