I am a new member of this forum and have a query re "X" factor. I notice, for example that for the horse Sansadee, the "X" red line goes only as far as Nearctic andwer (Can) . Why doesn't it go further to Sanasdee, when other similar red lines do??
regards Joe

Welcome to the pq forum. The red line doesn't extend to Sansadee because neither her sire nor dam are tagged in the db as carriers. It doesn't extend to Sansapa because her sire's not tagged as a carrier and her dam's not tagged as a "double copy" carrier (blue line). In this case entries would have to be 'manually' tagged which can be done, upon request, by a member of the research team.

I paid good money to have this service be correct and its sad to know that the db is not keeping up to date. There are hundereds or possible thousands of horeses that are incorrect in the X-factor db. I am a new member and believe in the X-Factor 100%. That is why I paid the money to look at the mare line for it. Someone needs to look at the db if a mare is BLUE line all sons will be a red line!! Once again if a mare is BLUE all sons have a red line period. I have spoken to Ms Hann the expert on the theory thru Facebook and confirmed that if the mare is BLUE all sons have the gene and pass it on to all of his daughters on the X chromosome. It does not mean it will be expressed in the daughter but she is carrier of the gene. A daughter has a 50-50 chance of expressing the gene. The gene is co dominat not dominant/recessive like most genes. I would greatly appreciate someone looking into this part of the database to try and update this part of it. Thank you

Try to help you a little bit on the X-Factor. First Snaadee would have had to been tested with and EKG or ECG and had to have a heart score greater than 120 to have a large heart and be carrier of the gene. Snaadee has a 50% chance of having a large heart based on the fact that his dam Somfas was a carrier of the gene from her sire What a Pleasure that got it from his dam that got it from her sire Mahmoud! To answer your question is she has 50% chance of having the gene. Sansadee on her dam side as smaller chance of having the gene. Nearctic Answer has 75% chance of carring and passing on the gene to her daughter Sansapa. in tern she has a 37.5% chance of passing on the gene to her daughter Sansadee on the dam side of her pedigree. Final thought we do not know unless we test with an ECG or Ultrasound to see what her heart score would be then we would know if she has a large heart or not.

Hi, Certain. Would you mind starting a thread about this in the forum called "Pedigree Side" under "Input From Members?" The site owners are working on tweaking the pedigrees and reports, and have asked for suggestions, but they will be looking for comments in that forum specifically. I'm sure they would appreciate the input.
