RIP Harlans Holiday
"People come and go but horses leave hoofprints on your heart"
Today had a downside. Loved the racing, but it started a few weeks ago with finding our stakes-placed mare off the track that we claimed a year ago was no longer pregnant to Into Mischief, so we are pulling her out of the November sale where we had hoped to turn her for a profit. Then fast forward to today and Goldencents wins the BC Mile, then Beholder (1/2 to Into Mischief) wins the BC Filly and Mare Classic. Then Harlan's H. dies.
Can any combination of events have happened today to make Into Mischief more valuable?
I guess Pointsofthebench added to Goldencent's chances when he died, so Into Mischief's stock really went up today.
But very sad for Harlan's Holiday and Pointsofthebench.

Very sad indeed, and a fairly young horse as well.
Don't forget Majesticperfection as a possibility to keep the legacy alive. His foals run next year so we won't know until then, but the horse is built beyond belief. Hadn't even planned on looking at him and after seeing him, I ended up sending a mare to him!

Sadly, even Affirmed's tail-male lineage is diminishing. Here is one of his remaining lineages:

And of prominent stallions who had Affirmed as their broodmare sire, both Harlan's Holiday and Bernstein died very young. Pleasantly Perfect is the only remaining prominent stallion I am aware of who has Affirmed as a broodmare sire.
