Another late edition to the Belmont Stakes....General A Rod just threw his hat into the ring. As usually these TC races swell to overflowing. Rosie Napravnik will be on board, after he worked 5/8ths this AM at CD in 1:00.20 and galloped out 6f in 1:13.60. The CD contingent, Medal Count and General A Rod will arrive Thursday June 5th....a day after all Belmont starters were supposed to be assembled at the Long Island track. Once again the rule is at the discretion of the stewards and they of course "discretioned" in favor of bending the rule:>) TJ

Other than Samraat, he has NO business in this field, I think all others have the pedigree for 12f. Of them, I feel Social Inclusion is the biggest threat.

Hi jagger,
We should find out today if Social Inclusion will run in the Belmont....he is nominated to the 7/8th of a mile Woody Stephens as well? He was amazing this morning. This years Belmont Stakes is in the hands of the riders, it should be a chess match throughout. TJ

Have you checked out Steve Roman's pace parameters? He bests California Chrome fairly significantly, cumulatively.

Hi jagger,
I usually check out Roman's site, I like their performance figures. He holds Social Inclusion in high regard as well. They still haven't made a decision which race he'll run in. They have him nominated to the Met Mile against older, the Belmont and the Woody Stephens for 3YO's. In the years I've been around, I've seen horses like Social Inclusion steal the Belmont Stakes and Irad Ortiz Jr is the kid that could do it. It's a tough decision....but sure wish I had to deal with it:>) TJ

Commanding Curve was first of the Belmont contenders to breeze this Sunday, June 1st. He worked a 1/2 mile in company, with a speedy maiden from the Tom Albertrani barn, Cost Affective. They went the 1/2 in 47.20 and galloped out 5/8ths in 1:00.50. TJ

Next was the Pletcher pair of Matterhorn (Johnny V) and Commissioner (Javier C.). They worked a 1/2 mile in company with Matterhorn besting Commissioner, 49.74 and 49.94...while galloping out 5/ths in 1:02.41, 1:02.61....
Waiting on Ride on Curlin, who should be out after the break along with Matuszak on the main track. Wicked Strong will breeze over the training track. TJ

Ride On Curlin worked 7/8ths on his own in 1:28.03. He went his first 1/2 in 51.78 while finishing his last 3/8ths in 36.25. Expected him to show more speed early on the way he galloped into his breeze? TJ

Matuszak worked in company with Maximus Mike working 5/8ths in 1:00.92 while galloping out 6f in 1:13.80. He left his workmate 5 lengths behind after going his final 3/8ths in 34.62. TJ

Wicked Strong worked 5/8ths over the training track....it was delayed due to a loose horse. He went 5/8ths in 59.17, last 3/8ths in 34.45 without being asked. Galloped out 6f in 1:13. TJ
