Enable has an interesting line of of distant American granddams. Maggie B. B. especially.

I'm going to compile the racing record of the first American to appear--Magnolia (1841)--if she had one.

There's not a lot of information about Magnolia (1841). She was bred by James Jackson of Florence Alabama. However, he died in 1840 and his stock was sold at various auctions. One of them was on January 5, 1844 in New Orleans. A chesnut filly of unstated age having identical breeding was sold to a Dr. Mercer.

Later that year, Magnolia ran in a 2-mile heat race at the Pharsalia Course near Natchez. It was Nov 21 on a muddy course. After finishing last in the first heat, she was distanced in the second one, thereby ending her day. She ran in the silks of William J. Minor.

That was the last mention of her as a racer. Because of the number of newspaper archives I checked, it is likely that was her only attempt on the track.
