Hello everybody,
I just singned up in the forum and I have enjoyed reading about some of the topics that are posted everyday. I admire the race horse like an athlete always willing to do his best effort. I have been related with the thoroughbred during a long time and I like to spend time trying to understand what make some of them better than others.
I really appreciate if somebody can give me some information about the attendance to the race tracks in U.S.
Thanks
Enrique Castillo

Enrique Castillo,
What do you mean by "attendance to the race tracks in U.S.? Are you asking about statistical numbers or how to go about attending? Also, WHAT State or area are you specifically interested in? *Interesting question.*
Welcome to the forum, Enrique. I live near Remington Park, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. When it debuted in 1988, overflow crowds of over ten thousand were not uncommon, but now it's rare to have 2500 patrons on the best-attended weekends. Additional televised races (simulcasting) are available most days, even when there is no live racing, and on those days only about 200-400 people attend. There are also track-sponsored off-track betting parlors in the state. Some of our major competition is the Indian casinos that offer the same televised races, but with no contract to share the money with the horsemen. Indian tribes are considered sovereign nations in the USA, not subject to state laws or to the Interstate Horse Racing Act. (I believe I am correct, someone please correct me if I am mistaken).
Enrique, what racetracks are you familiar with?

Yes B.J. I'm trying to find an some figure about the number of people that go to the races around the country, I was trying to find some statiscal studio. Thanks Madelyn and Henthorn by your information, and thanks too the others members that reply my mail.
Henthorn, I lived during almost two years in Florida and I used to go to Calder or Gulfstream, now I'm living in Ca, but I'm not close to any of the tracks in the state.
Thanks
Enrique

Enrique,
If you look at the daily charts for any given racetrack, they will usually list the attendance figues at the bottom of the page.
Here's the link to the Equibase charts page - http://www.equibase.com/premium/eqbResultFullIndex.cfm?CHRT=Y
I'm sure other sites would have the same info if you look around.
That's on a day-by-day basis, though - for average attendance over a period of time, the tracks' websites might be more likely to have that info.
