I disagree with ya.
Gotta put the two undefeated classic winners on top.
1. Divine Proportions
1a. Motivator
3. Afleet Alex
4. Shamardal
5. Lost in the Fog--undefeated but not a classic winner
6. Dubawi
Euros easily better than their American counterparts.

No love for Eswarah? Gotta throw her in there.
For No 1 3-yr-old in the world I give a slim nod to....
Afleet Alex
Because I believe he'd romp the Euros on the dirt at any distance. And while Motivator and others should be favored over him on the turf, I'd give him a realistic upset chance on their preferred surface.
Although most of the rest of my list would be Euros, who are much deeper than us with this crop.
I really hope Afleet Alex tries the grass.

I don't joke about undefeated hosses.
Divine Proportions, well you see her in the BC for sure and she'll win.
Afleet can't make that same claim.
Interesting, I agree mostly with Keith's list, but I too would Motivator above Afleet Alex, and maybe even Shamardal.
And Dubawi over a mile is a monster too. I do not think he is as versatile as his sire however, and grass is the surface for him.
Afleet Alex would not have a chance on the turf against the above three and I think Divine Proportions would beat him as well.
Does being European make me bias? Probably
I prefer Lost In The Fog to Afleet Alex (do not necessarily think he is better). I would like to see The Fog stretched out over a mile and see how he does. He is a bonny little horse and none have been able to nibble his saddle cloth yet!

Until a horse tries a new surface for the first time there is no way to know for sure how well he/she will perform over it. Horses can move up (or backward) 5-10 lengths on a surface switch!
I would suggest that given Afleet Alex's:
-Impressive performance level on the dirt
-Ability to win from 6f to 12f
-Ability to rate and finish
-Acceptable if not very strong turf pedigree, especially on the bottom
It would be quite illogical to say he would not have a chance against the Euros. And as I said before, he would hold a very strong hand against them on the dirt.
Too bad this one probably never gets settled on the track...
